I always have had trouble sleeping so I appreciate the fact that I could pick up and choose extra pillows from a varied selection tucked into the pigeonholes near the reception en route to the lift lobby. I couldn't read the Japanese text, but I thought that they had pillows ranging from down to memory foam. The room was quite compact with the double bed tucked against the wall, and a small open cubby to hang your jackets and stash your shoes. The bathroom was nice and cosy, with a deep bathtub and an intelligent toilet bowl which can be programmed to heat your seat. The only thing I found lacking is a safe, or at least a laptop safe but this may be because there is very little crime in Japan. Items lost are usually returned intact. The breakfast selection might seem small to some, it was delicious. The pastries were wonderful! The staff was also very helpful with information about the area. I was in town for business and after a long day, the one thing I looked forward to was soaking in the hot waters at the onsen nearby to drain my fatigue away. The hotel has a tie-up with the onsen and entry is free for hotel guests! Yay! The experience may be a bit of culture shock for foreigners unfamiliar to Japan but a visit to the onsen is a must. Just remember to look up onsen etiquette before you do. My colleague had stepped onto the raised floor of the premises before being reminded to take off his shoes.

Like many hotels in Japan, there's a bit of a tired, post-boom feel to the decor in this place; however, like most hotels in Japan it's also immaculately clean and the staff are unfailingly polite. It's a three-star hotel that's quite a way from the station (i.e. 45-minute walk) but there's a bus that leaves from / arrives at the onsen across the road and it's free for hotel guests. The onsen really is top drawer, so get your kit off and get into it. Two tips: 1. Tell the taxi drivers to take you to Roten Garden Onsen rather than Laxio Inn/Hotel, because all three taxi drivers I used didn't know of the hotel. (Taxi is 1000yen: the bus from the station stops at around 7pm, I think.) 2. There's not a lot of English spoken at either place so if you're heading for the onsen then make sure you google search the standard spa protocols before you leave. But don't be put off - it's worth it.

“Comfy and well equipped”

Weather is still a tad chilly but at the end of our day, heading back to the hotel was great. Like most toilet cubicles, theirs were heated and the toilet had good and much needed amenities. Weather is still a tad chilly but at the end of our day, heading back to the hotel was great. Like most toilet cubicles, theirs were heated and the toilet had good and much needed amenities. I love turning on the humidifier and lots of movie channels including classics that are available for viewing. Bonus is at the lobby you could pick various pillow types according to your preference. I've long been a user of memory foam pillows and was ecstatic they had it. Free daily breakfast was simple but really good. Lots of nice fluffy buns to choose from. Place was close to our trainin cebty but distance to Hachioji city was far. Was a comfortable stay but probably on vacation would not have picked it due to location. Ps: Great sushi place nearby within walking distance that was affordable and you get to pick on a touch screen abd have it coming down the food train in a Nintendo sort of sound.
