We had an amazing time at Baobab, Maridadi and KoleKole. Its amazing to be able to use facilities at all the 3 hotels. We had some issues during check in, however, Jane and Lucy sorted out the issues ASAP and we got allocated other rooms. The initial rooms allocated have a drainage going through the front which is a real health hazard as someone can trip in the gap. We have brought this to the attention of the hotel and hopefully something shall be done about this. The 2 rooms we got allocated after the issue was raised were 515 and 516 . The rooms were very clean and well maintained. Kelvin Kimatu was keeping them clean and well maintained on daily basis. The jambo team were absolutely fantastic- great entertainment all around the clock. They worked extremely hard with giving their best performances throughout. The food was fabulous with lots of variety and different cuisines. Chef Jagjit was always making sure all was well on daily basis. We would like to thank all the staff members for making our holiday comfortable and memorable. A special thanks to Lucy , Jane, Kelvin, Jagjit and the Jambo team . Asante sana. x

“3 nights of heaven”

We stayed at Baobab Beach Resort & Spa for two weeks to celebrate our 10-year anniversary, and it’s definitely a trip we’ll never forget, especially as we also went on an incredible safari during our stay. For anyone looking for a company, I highly recommend Thianni Tours The Good: The pools were a real highlight. We loved having the option of both lively and quiet areas. Some days we enjoyed the atmosphere and entertainment from the Jambo team at the busier pools, while on other days we relaxed at the adult only pool for a bit more peace and quiet. The food was delicious throughout. We stuck to the buffet as we felt the à la carte options were quite pricey considering we were all inclusive, we didn't realise these were extra until we got there. That said, we didn’t mind that premium alcohol came at an extra cost, we were more than happy with the included cocktails and drinks but again something people may be put off by if they don't know before booking. We’re quite easy going with food and always found something to enjoy, but I can see how it might be a bit limiting for fussier eaters, especially if you’re not keen on curry style dishes. That said, they do make a clear effort to cater for different dietary requirements, with alternative milks, yogurts, and varied dishes available. Most of the staff were incredibly friendly, always greeting you with a warm “Jambo” as you pass. It was lovely to see, although it was disappointing to notice some guests not returning that kindness, I experienced quite a lot of rudeness towards staff from other holiday go-ers but the staff continued to be friendly and professional. A special mention to Robert at breakfast, who was always so cheerful and chatty, he really brightens the mornings. The Jambo team also deserve recognition for how hard they work throughout the day and the fantastic shows they put on in the evenings. We booked a dolphin watching and snorkelling trip to Robinson Island through the company at the hotel, and it was absolutely fantastic. Seeing so many dolphins up close on a morning trip is something we’ll never forget. The gentleman in the round shop (apologies, I can't remember his name) was also great, very friendly and respectful. He let us browse at our own pace without any pressure, simply explaining that buying more items would get us a better discount. Because of this relaxed approach, we ended up buying a few things we genuinely wanted. The Not So Good: The “welcome tour” of the hotel wasn’t a great experience. We missed it on arrival day but were encouraged to attend the next morning as the resort is quite large. However, we had already explored everything ourselves, and the tour didn’t offer any additional insight that we thought it might, that wouldn't be a bad thing but at the end, we felt pressured to tip, like we couldn't leave until we did. We were told “I don’t take signatures, just cash,” and when we said we didn't have cash with us as we came in a rush after a lie in he asked where our room was. My husband had to go back to the room to get money while I awkwardly waited. It felt unnecessary and uncomfortable. Another downside was that my husband was repeatedly mocked by staff when ordering a latte at the main bar. Staff would whisper, shout “latte” in a mocking tone to eachother, look over at him, and laugh to themselves. This happened multiple times and didn’t feel nice at all. The beach itself is absolutely stunning, but the experience is unfortunately affected by the beach sellers. We’ve encountered this in other countries, but here they felt particularly persistent, approaching in groups and continuing to follow us even after we politely said no several times. At times it felt quite intimidating. Lastly, our transfer back to the airport was a bit unsettling. We had a late night pickup (00:30), and the driver informed us we would have a police escort due to safety concerns in certain areas where locals ambush cars carrying tourists. While we understand this isn’t the hotel’s fault, it did make for a slightly uneasy journey and is worth noting for anyone booking through TUI or Kenya Airways. Overall: Despite a few negatives, we had a truly memorable stay and would recommend the hotel to others. With just a few improvements, it could be even better.
