We were booked into the Amazing Mara Camp as part of our safari with a third party company. From the moment we arrived to the second we left we were treated to the most impeccable, unpretentious, and attentive service we have ever experienced. The tents well appointed with on demand power and hot water. The beds were so comfortable - we loved the special touch of hot water bottles at night to keep us warm and toasty during the winter nights. We spent hours sitting on the porch of our tent watching hippos, buffalos and the many bird species who call the the river home. Each night we enjoyed a sundowner in the lodge in front of the cozy fire. The food was a highlight – each and every meal was delicious. I'm still thinking about the fried banana fritters and the chicken curry. The biggest asante sana/thank you to Clinton, Frank, Rebecca, Felix, Peter and everyone else who made our stay so magical. Special shout out to guide/driver Sam who stepped in on a moments notice when our guide was not available and made our safari day so memorable! Our three night stay at Amazing Mara Camp was hands down one of the most incredible experiences we have ever had. We are dreaming about when we can return with our family and friends to share this special place with them.

“PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!”

I am visiting my friend in gorgeous Kenya for 10 days, and she booked a very special visit to the Amazing Mara Camp for us... we are two moms getting away from the hustle and bustle of family life, and our trip left us both with a deep sense of gratitude, awe, relaxation, and delight. We were met at the Olkiombo Airstrip by the camp's friendly driver, Fred, who checked to see if we'd like to take a little game drive on our way to the camp, (we did!) and from that moment on, we were asked for our preferences and met with absolute flexibility and a willingness to craft a trip that met our needs and interests. Clinton, Frank, Rebecca and the wonderfully attentive staff from the Amazing Mara welcomed us at the camp, offered us a delicious lunch, and invited us to rest a bit in our tent before an evening game drive. We were shown to our tent, a beautifully and thoughtfully designed home away from home with all the comforts we could ask for, right down to the local Kenya soaps from CG, comfortable beds, and a unobstructed view of the Tolek River. We rested, and before setting out on our evening game drive, we were given freshly brewed iced tea and mint leaves. We were lucky enough to see elephants families, giraffes, a leopard, alligators, hippos, a lion, countless zebras, and so much more. We stopped to take in the breathtaking views, enjoyed a cold Tusker, and kept pinching ourselves as it all felt too good to be true. Heading back home, we stopped to take in the views of animals we met along the way, never once feeling rushed or hurried along. We were greeted with hand-crafted cocktails by fireside (the cinnamon-infused whiskey, designed by Frank, was exceptional), enjoyed an outstanding meal overlooking the river, and enjoyed the exceptional Kenyan hospitality. We chatted about our preferences for the next day with Clinton, the Camp's manager, and were escorted back to our tent by local Askari to assure our safety, and there we found hot water bottles warming our beds. After a nice hot shower, we fell fast asleep to the sounds of hippos and zebras nearby. We were awoken the next morning with coffee at our tent, a glimpse of a hippo in the river below, and then set out on a morning drive with Fred. There is simply too much to go into, but I would be remiss if I failed to mention the delicious breakfast, thoughtfully prepared and set out for us a few hours into our amazing morning, which we enjoyed from a grassy perch overlooking a bloat of hippos in the river. We sat there, surrounded by dappled sunlight, watching the hippo drama unfold, without being rushed or hurried along. We were the only ones there and Fred went along with our timeline - which was all about inhaling every moment and every ounce of beauty here on the Masai Mara. The same scheduled followed that afternoon and evening, but there was nothing the SAME about our drive, the animals we saw, or the vistas we took in. Each drive is different, and there is something to behold at every turn, over every crest, and behind every bush. The Amazing Mara Camp, the wonderfully friendly and professional staff, and the Masai Mara filled us both with a deep appreciation for nature and how Kenya is preserving it. 5 out of 5 is an understatement for how we feel about our stay. It is a perfect place for friends looking to unwind and connect, and for families looking for a slice of simple perfection. Thank you!!! With gratitude, Kim & Jessica.
