If you are looking for a place to stay in Riga, I would definitely recommend the Wellton Hotel Riga. It has the best location you can imagine, with a few minutes' walk to the Old Town or the Central Train Station. We booked a Mansard room as we wanted to be on the top, 8th floor. There are three Wellton hotels in Riga, and that one has the smallest spa area, but it's still very enjoyable with two jacuzzis, a sauna, and a steam room. And of course, we went for massages, 90 minutes for only 85€ per person. Food: There is so much food for breakfast, don't forget the sparkling wine! And a lot of desserts! I couldn't stop myself from having Napoleon cake every day for breakfast. All staff were very welcoming.

The Wellton Riga Hotel and Spa is in a good location and very accessible to the old town. We took the bus 22 from the airport, which cost 1.50 euro and stops opposite the hotel and on the way back it stops outside the hotel. Lots of cafes and restaurants around and a very walkable city. Before arriving we requested a room with a shower for health reasons and also told the hotel that one of the party had a birthday. The hotel did acknowledge this email and even replied saying "will certainly take the celebration into consideration when preparing your room". Hotels are pretty accommodating and try to do something special after all, it’s the hospitality industry, and it’s the little touches that count. Sadly nothing was extra in the room which was disappointing. Bathrobes and slippers would not have cost anything to the hotel and it would have shown a little gesture. This fell short of my expectations for a 4-star experience, and a missed opportunity for a memorable stay. The rooms were a little dowdy in decoration with browns and beige and they didn't feel very clean, but we didn't spend too much time in the room. You can make tea or coffee in the room but no milk is a available for tea and the coffee sachets come only with milk. This could be easily improved by the hotel to inhance the guest experience. We found staff at first a little unfriendly, but I do think that this is more cultural that they don't smile or chat to guests. We were not told anything about the spa or other facilities at the hotel, reception staff are a little cold in their approach with guests. Riga is a wonderful city with a lot to offer and the hotels location is good but I cannot recommend this hotel based on our experience.

We had a great stay at the hotel the rooms were nice and clean and the staff were helpful. Located well to get around the town.

Check-in was slow and the receptionist had flu and seemed feverish. I had to separately ask about breakfast and spa opening hours myself, as he didn't actively inform about anything. This could be due to being ill at work, but maybe he would be better staying at home in that case. The female receptionist was very lovely and smiling. They offered a free welcome drink, which was nice. The standard room is very small, but the room was clean and ok-looking. The view to the park was quite nice. The breakfast was good with lots of fruits, vegetables and warm dishes. They also offered a glass of sparkling wine to start your day with. This is a spa hotel, but still you had a hard time finding an available timeslot for the spa, even when the spa is included in the booking. The evenings are fully booked and it is recommendable to arrange time for your spa visit during 11-16, when it is not so busy. Since this is a spa hotel, I wish they would keep it open until 22, instead of 20.30 considering how popular the spa is in the evenings. The older spa receptionist woman seemed annoyed at her job and when asking questions she snapped at me angrily "I already told you enough about that". There were no bathrobes available in the room, even though this is a spa/wellness hotel, and they weren't even included in the 15€ spa fee, but were extra 5€. The spa area was small, intimate and beautifully decorated. Visually the most beautiful spa area out of all three Welltons in Riga. There was a jacuzzi and another pool with water jets. Steam room was ok, but had boring white tiles as decoration. The sauna was not good: cold, only 60C and it was forbidden to throw water on the stones to heat it up. The location is excellent, in the old town, next to Galerija Centrs, and very close to Origo shopping centre and many restaurants. Value for money was very good and with breakfast and spa access this hotel was only 70€ per night.
