My wife and I worked in London many years ago and return frequently. We had a flat in Chelsea in those days and have become very comfortable in the Chelsea/South Kensington neighborhood. The Cheval Harrington Court is ideally located in the heart of South Ken and provides us with an apartment experience with many hotel amenities. The hotel is beautifully maintained. The apartments/flats are 4-5*, with well-equipped kitchens that include a must-have for us, a washer-dryer. The front door is 50 steps from the South Kensington Tube, maybe 1/4 mile from an entrance into Hyde Park (where you can see the King's Household Cavalry exercising and training their horses each morning), 1/2 mile to Royal Albert Hall, and closer than that to the V&A and the Natural History Museum. If you are arriving at Heathrow, take the Picadilly line directly to South Ken in less than 30 minutes for about 6 Pounds. It's 15 minutes to Picadilly Circus, the heart of the West End, to see a show. If you want the feel of living in a local neighborhood, surrounded by people taking their kids to the French School across the street, grabbing a croissant at Gail's, also across the street, or food shopping at the Waitrose on Old Brompton Road, about a 5-minute walk, and you want to avoid the tourist throngs, then please take a good look at the Cheval Harrington Court, in South Ken.

“Couldn't ask for better staff and service”

A fantastic place to stay! The location is great, our flat (2 bedrooms) was well appointed and spotlessly clean. There was enough kitchen equipment to store everything and to prepare meals. The rooms were a good size; the sitting room was large enough to accommodate us and visitors comfortably. There was a nice little balcony with a great view. There was a lovely welcome hamper with bread, milk, cheese, salami, biscuits as well as coffee and tea when we arrived. Bottled water was unlimited. Their biggest plus though is their wonderful staff. They couldn't have been more helpful, friendly and professional. I had ordered groceries to be delivered, which they offered to unpack, should we not be there when they arrived. Whenever we needed anything, they were there to help and take care of it. This would be my first choice for my next trip to London.

“Excellent Central London Hotel”

“The good, the leakage and the musty”

We stayed for a total of 16 days and upon arrival asked if they could possibly provide us with two beds, but were told that ours booked is a studio apt with one bed. We therefore requested to switch, should a bigger one become available at any given time, so we would have two beds. No good news until after a week when Tina who checked us in, called and asked if we're interested to switch to a bigger apt with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a spacious living room and a dining room plus a bigger open kitchen. We viewed it and liked the spacious layout, settled the significant difference without delay and moved over the same afternoon. We're told that the residence was fully refurbished in Dec 2025, so we're excited and expected it to be very clean & everything to be working very well. The overall impression, whether it is a smaller or bigger apt, is that it is indeed clean and bright, situated in a very convenient & safe location. There are two lifts but no restaurants on premises, therefore no breakfast provided. All sorts of public transport are right there, be it tube, buses or black cabs. South Kensington tube station is just across the street, and lots pf bus stops downstairs taking you almost anywhere , from popular shopping districts e.g. Knightsbridge to Sloane Square to Oxford Circus to Leicester Sq to Piccadilly to Bond Street to High Street Kensington to White City's Westfield ; or to museums, major touristy areas for sightseeing, or the famous parks , lots of cafes, pubs & bakeries, hotels, restaurants, bookstores, stationery shops, supermarkets, cinemas and theatres in the city hub. Every Saturday a fresh produce food market that opens half day is right down the turn of the street. They have daily housekeeping like making the beds, cleaning the bathrooms and emptying the bins, but fresh bed linen & towels are only changed every three days. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge, Nespresso machine & capsules, kettle and assorted tea bags, iron & ironing board, full sets of crockery & cutlery & kitchen tools, a washer & dryer, a dishwasher, pots and pans & a microwave. Still and sparkling water is replenished daily. Hairdryer & slippers, vanity kits and shower caps, a scale, L'Occitane shower & skincare products, a safe and telly are all there. Two bathrobes and a heated panel doubling as clothes drying rack is there in the bathroom too. A good size wardrobe and drawer units in each room. In the bigger apt, two balconies with outdoor furniture; a proper desk and chair to do work and lots of sockets located throughout. What mars these niceties is the flawed bathroom, a shame really. The medium sized rain shower looks okay but in fact water pressure is very weak, and the handheld shower is fixed at a weird position. We wonder how & why in this day & age, such awkward design could be approved when it was so newly refurbished. Why would any professional designer or someone with sensible life experience could have chosen a skinny shower head fixed at an odd height on the wall instead of an adjustable one? The water is also very weak and basically sprays too lightly at your chest for someone of average height, cos it is not positioned higher or lower. They have added something to the hard water so it becomes soft water. Whatever advantages soft water has, it is really undesirable as the slimy soapy feeling just lingers and you just don't feel 100% clean. It also prolongs the shower time as one tries in vain to wash off the slimy touch. Hair washing esp for long hair is a nightmare as one can imagine. What's supposed to freshen and invigorate at the end of a long day venturing out is just the opposite. Not to mention the dread of having to mop the wet floor when you step out. Bathroom floor that needs mopping night after night. As is, the worst bit is the leakage. The glass door spots a gap running from top to bottom, wide enough to let water seep out. The corners of the smallish shower cubicle aren't leakproof, so for the 16 nights, we had to mop the floor after every shower. That's why when we asked for extra towels to soak up the leakage, they quickly obliged to break the 3-day-new-towel-rule, apologised and promised to fix the leakage, but we soon stopped notifying them when the frustrating problem persisted without end. They have ineffective QC, to say the least. The bigger apartment also smells of musty odour of bad sewage or smelly pipes or simply mildew staleness that wafts from the toilet and billows into the master bedroom, so every night in the bigger apt we had to open the adjoining balcony door trying to get rid of the off-putting & very foul, irritating smell, let some fresh air in albeit it was below 10 degrees outside. When we checked out after a fortnight +, maybe they all knew their problems, that we're not entirely happy with the apt , so not even one staff asked us how our stay was, and no one even pretended or bothered to utter default scripts like " Have a safe flight and hope to welcome you again. " For the price, we expect more than just white sheets & clean windows. ( BTW, on the very first night, we found someone's long strand of hair left dangling on the sheer curtain ). There are definitely better options.
