I’ve stayed multiple times at this hotel, easy access to the windrush station and a quick walk (15 m) to Liverpool. Proximity to lots of great restaurants and the regents canal running path. I am moved to write a review after a bit of a traumatic experience that the lovely staff (shout out to Mariana and Ola) helped me through- I was leveled by a motorbike crossing the street and they provided top notch first aid, checked on me multiple times and made sure to properly document the incident. Being a woman that travels alone frequently, it was wonderful having their support and care during a shocking event that could have been much worse. This hotel was a solid stay to begin with, but after this it’s my go to place.

“Brilliant”

Stayed here again in October 2025 and it was brilliant, staff are amazing, décor is awesome, we ate in CitizenM and the food brilliant too. The app made it very easy to see what was going on and it has free Wifi. The bed was comfy and hotel was quiet Overall a brilliant stay.

“Good location; decent but underwhelming.”

I’ve stayed at a few Citizen M hotels and chose this based on location; it’s perfect for Shoreditch; however it did underwhelm for a few reasons. Firstly it’s a bit of a strange set up as the main entrance looks quite unassuming and takes you to two lifts and a large spiral staircase. I was initially unclear if it was the main entrance; knew I couldn’t carry case so pressed the lift and assumed the reception must be on 1st floor and weirdly not on ground. However on getting in lift; like many hotels, it had the key card within the key pad to allude I needed a key card to go up; but the lift buttons were nor labelled i.e 1st is reception etc; but also knew i couldn’t carry case up stairs. I proceeded to get out of lift as was confused that it didn’t seem well signposted or clear; but then thought it was only way so recalled another lift. When it arrived; a staff remember was in lift and I realised it was going down to basement but asked if floor 1 was reception and got an abrupt ‘yes’ in response! Great welcome. Anyway proceeded upstairs and did self check in and did the key cards; once completed the person stood on reception came over and I asked about room allocation as I only had 2 choices but both were low floors but different street sides. She advised that they were much of a muchness; but also for what I’d paid for I could only be on a low floor but did say if I found it to be noisy I could switch rooms which was appreciated as said I was a light sleeper! I said I wouldn’t be back til 3:30am so wouldn’t know if if was noisy till then ; she said not to worry there was plenty of rooms if there was an issue. Whilst I appreciated her stating it it felt somewhat annoying just not to offer a move rather than expecting me to wait til 4am, be in bed wear and find out I can’t sleep as a solo female traveller and go to reception to ask to switch rooms! Anyway checked in and went to room; it was standard citizen M style; was clean and tidy; my old gripe was the awful curtain they have in shower and as a divider to the bedroom and toilet; looks cheap, stained etc; in addition the shower head was covered in limescale. My friend arrived and we met in the bar late afternoon/early evening; nice bar but was empty and zero vibe; so we left after one drink. Came home around 3.30am but felt pretty unsettled tbh so left at 6.30am which was a shame. It’s a great location; think the Tower Hill London location has much better vibes for example, staff, settings, the bar has energy; I just felt Shoreditch fell flat disappointingly on this occasion.
