I am a big fan of Floris, so that was lovely. The location is also excellent, just a stone's throw from Paddington Station. However, there were a couple of quite big downsides. First, because the hotel is quite small, there was no wardrobe in our room. That sufficed for one night, but I would hate to spend a week with all of my stuff having to be spread out across the room. Second, breakfast was pretty atrocious. You have to go down to the basement. Once there, I found some cereal, some pancakes, and the sorriest excuses for bacon and scrambled eggs that I have ever seen. My first thought upon seeing this was "are you ***** kidding?". At £24 per person per night, it is the definition of taking the Michael. I've had two freshly made full English breakfasts in London in the last couple of weeks for the combined total of £17, and both were infinitely better. Thankfully, I had a breakfast meeting at work, so I could afford to not have much. My girlfriend shared my frustrations, and according to my girlfriend, the tea selection was also pretty dire. I don't think it's unfair to expect better from a place marketing itself as an upmarket boutique hotel, with a price tag to match. To summarise, did I have an overall positive stay? Yes. Would I have a different answer if I'd paid for it myself? Yes..
