“Excellent staff conveniently located”

I stay here often with work. Some of the rooms are starting to become a bit tatty but the staff are a true credit to the hotel. Rooms are cleaned well, staff are long serving, polite, helpful and friendly. Staying away so often, the value of a friendly smile and greeting cannot be underestimated.

The real winner here is the hotel's location, as it's close to a bus stop, the underground, and walkable to restaurants and shops. Our goal was to stick around Kensington Palace/Notting Hill area and this was a great hotel for those locations. Also must call out the staff, who, despite being a very busy team, were incredibly friendly and always happy to help. I was almost caught off guard by how willing to assist the staff was! On two occasions someone from the reception desk came out to walk with me to solve a problem or answer a question. Just, beyond nice. That said, the room and rest of the hotel are perfectly OK. But, just OK. The door to our room was scuffed and scratched from top to bottom on the exterior--not a great first impression but, it's a door. As people have noted, the rooms are on the smaller side but we didn't have an issue with this. Our bathroom was a little comical in that nearly the entire thing was taken up by a GIANT bathtub, though I suppose it was nice we had a tub? You could use the toilet and wash your hands at the same time--literally was a tiny bathroom taken up by this giant tub. The room had signs of wear but nothing overly concerning. It was clean and well maintained. I would stay here again if I wanted to be in the area and wanted to stick to a certain budget. While there are no doubt higher-end options, those options will come with a much higher price tag, and this was a perfectly acceptable hotel stay.

After arriving and being seriously let down by Marriott Kensington , we were hotelless! Jumped in a cab and headed to the Hilton Kensington, unfortunately I have a very bad feather allergy so whenever I book a hotel I always state this in emails and check again regarding this the morning of the stay , Marriot Kensington did get the emails but decided to completely overlook this .... this is where Luke at the Hilton went above and beyond to ensure we had the room we desired , made sure it was deep cleaned and spotless of anything feather or down in the room , even though he was due to finish his shift at 10pm and we only arrived at 9 15 !!! We got a 4 night stay , breakfast thrown in for a bargain !! OK, now I get to the many bit ... I wouldn't say this was a 4 star hotel as although the rooms themselves are spotlessly clean , the decor is a bit dated, the matress was a little to firm for our liking ( maybe a matress topper would ve a good idea here ?) and the bathroom really has seen better days . Rant over !!! The position of the room is fab , on the side of the hotel next to residential flats, with very little noise and a window that opens ( YAY ) , and extra brownie points that the air con works with said window open , so all good . Breakfast is great , everything you can think of and more , I'm a serious Greek yoghurt fan and theirs is delicious, the only moan regarding breakfast is I can't get a decaf coffee unless I want a Nescafe sachet !!!! The atmosphere at breakfast was great , I think the hotel is aimed at coach tours which made the breakfast room buzzing , we talked to lots of interesting people, and heard some great stories . We usually stay in Middle Eight Covent Garden due to ease of location but because we were basing ourself around Kensington this time the Hilton Kensington really did save the day . If you are out and about all day and just want a place to sleep I would highly recommend here , don't expect The Ritz as your not paying Ritz prices ( obvs) but to be honest after staying in many 5 star hotels around the world and even some 6 star hotels in the Middle East the friendliness and lovely atmosphere here outshines those hotels anyhoo. Big thanks to Luke ( hope you slept well on Friday night after putting up with me being a diva regarding the room and feather bedding fiasco!!) And the rest of the Hilton Kensington team .
