We have just returned from a wonderful long weekend at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London and felt that our experience deserved to be shared. From the genuinely warm welcome upon our arrival to the moment we were waved goodbye at departure, we experienced what true hospitality is all about. Not 90%, not 99%, but a full 100%. What impressed us most was that this feeling was not created by one individual or one department. It was everywhere. From the concierges, Porters and butlers to housekeeping and the entire Food & Beverage team, everyone seemed to work together like a perfectly well-oiled machine. There was a real sense of teamwork, with one shared purpose: to make every guest feel genuinely welcome, cared for and special. Over the years, we have been fortunate enough to stay at many luxury five-star hotels around the world. We have seen and experienced a great deal, and perhaps that makes it even more remarkable when a hotel still manages to surprise us and create something truly memorable. Exceptional surroundings and luxury can be found in many places, but genuine hospitality at this level has become increasingly rare or at least, something you have to search much harder to find. Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park reminded us that true five-star service is about so much more than a beautiful building, a luxurious room or flawless facilities. It is about people, intuition, consistency and the ability to make a guest feel that their experience genuinely matters. During our stay, I spent some time in our room reading and browsing through the beautiful coffee-table book about Mandarin Oriental as a group. It spoke about the sense of family that is part of the Mandarin Oriental philosophy. After experiencing this hotel, we truly understand what that means. It is in the little things: being addressed by your name, people genuinely listening to your wishes and remembering your preferences, recognising you when you return, and making an effort to create moments that feel personal rather than simply providing a service. There is a warmth and sincerity here that makes you feel less like a hotel guest and more like someone being welcomed into a home. A very special thank you must go to Lionel and Musa. Their kindness, personality and attention added an extra special touch to our weekend and, most importantly, put a smile on our faces. Those are the moments you remember long after checking out. This stay genuinely changed the way we feel about Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. We arrived looking forward to a beautiful weekend in our beloved London, but we left knowing that we had found a place and especially a team that we absolutely want to return to. London will always be special to us, but from now on, returning to London will also mean looking forward to returning to Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. To the entire team: thank you for your warmth, your professionalism, your smiles and for showing us what exceptional hospitality truly feels like. We cannot wait to return.
