I have nothing but praise for this hotel. The location is perfect and convenient to shopping, parks, the tube for connections. I will confess, I had not been back since the extensive renovations in 2016 and I love what's been done. The Palm Court Lounge and Bar area is light and airy, the public areas, the Club lounge, the rooms and suites are all done extremely tastefully and in keeping with the Art Deco heritage of the hotel. Overall the atmosphere is one of elegance and restraint. I stayed with family recently and we had a total of 4 rooms varying from an elegant suite fronting on the park, a standard king and a king with connecting twin rooms (which is very hard to come by elsewhere). All rooms were elegant, spacious, with extremely comfortable beds and more than adequate blackout drapes covering the windows. Sufficient effort had been made to insulate the windows so street noise wasn't really an issue. Bathrooms had stand alone showers. Lighting and water pressure were good. There was twice daily housekeeping service which was a wonderful indulgence compared to the minimalist experience one often receives in the US. Everything was immaculate. The Club lounge was well stocked with food and beverages throughout the day and was comprised of several rooms and areas where one could be more private. However, what really was the standout for me was the service at this wonderful hotel. The staff could not have been more accommodating or helpful. From the moment I contacted the General Manager during my 5 hour departure delay at the airport in the US when it became apparent I wasn't going to make it in time to check in with the rest of my family and would need special dispensation to allow them to check in on points without me, to my own experience checking in with Pranik who enthusiastically offered to upgrade me to a lovely suite, there was not a moment when the staff failed to go above and beyond in every interaction we had with them. Service was impeccable. Housekeeping was considerate and discrete. Concierge services were knowledgeable and eager to be helpful. The staff at breakfast remembered our preferences and the hostess extended my benefits to my family. The breakfast buffet was excellent and extensive: both hot and cold stations, chef-prepared omelets, bakery items and fresh bread, cheeses, fruits, yogurt, ...a typical European breakfast buffet. We also had occasion to indulge in the afternoon tea service and I can only say, while expensive, it was lavish and wonderful. If you get the chance you absolutely should do this. So there is honestly nothing negative or even so-so about this hotel. It's truly a 5-star classic that has been beautifully renovated with service to match. I cannot wait to go back.
