We recently stayed at "The Gore" for five nights and had a wonderful experience. The hotel’s historic charm and character make it stand out from the usual modern chains. Our room was comfortable and well-maintained throughout our stay. It's very quiet close to the Hyde Park. A special mention goes to the staff and service at the breakfast—it was high quality and a great start to each day. The location is perfect for exploring South Kensington and Hyde Park. Highly recommended!

“Cosy, but room for improvement”

A comfortable, padded, well located hotel within walking distance of Hyde Park, Kensington Palace, V&A, Natural History Museum, Imperial College and buzzy Kensington High Street with its many crosstown bus routes. The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was clubby, bed and bath were comfortable and the small (for a 'superior double') room overlooked a quiet pleasant street. However, room for some improvements: brighter lighting in the quite dark bedroom, an extensible make-up mirror in the bathroom, a full-length mirror somewhere nearer than the outside stair landing, and something really needs doing about the bathroom ventilation noise which whirrs like a very noisy sewing machine - not conducive to a relaxing bubble bath. Plus, the shower, fixed overhead with no flexibility, was more suited to a very tall basketball player than a woman of medium height. And - unlike my previous hotel room in Dublin for half the price - the room had no coffee table or armchair, only a small desk with upright chair. The equally small television was side-on to the chair, which meant either watching it at a ridiculous angle or, even more awkwardly, from the bed to which it was also situated sideways. Overall, a nice plush hotel but with several design glitches needing tweaking.

“A trip to London”

The hotel was clean and comfortable with a fabulous breakfast served with a excellent range of food. The only disappointment was that the bathroom taps and shower were in need of replacement aa handles fell off and the shower was difficult to adjust.

Unfortunately, on receiving my checkout invoice, I discovered we were billed every time we asked for water or milk, even though the staff told us these were complimentary and even though they themselves offered to bring these up to our rooms. Lovely rooms and atmosphere - close to Hyde Park. Unfortunately, on receiving my checkout invoice, I discovered we were billed every time we asked for water or milk, even though the staff told us these were complimentary and even though they themselves offered to bring these up to our rooms. This definitely felt very unethical. Watch out for hidden costs they sneak in.
