This hotel was very centrally located, and we walked everywhere we needed to go. The front desk folks were very friendly and helpful. I knew the room was going to be small, but not quite as small as it turned out to be. It was clean, and the bathroom was ample size and safe for older folks. We did fine here for 3 days. Being older, we would get a larger room next time—all in all, a very fine hotel.

“Amazing staff”

Such a lovely little stay at The Z Hotel! Perfect location for theatres and a gentle wander around Covent Garden. The room was cosy and spotless, and the staff were absolute sweethearts — so kind and helpful. A charming little gem, I’d happily stay again. 🌸

“Mostly wheelchair accessible”

I was pleasantly surprised by the space and wheelchair accessibility of this hotel - the only negative is that the buttons that control the lights and window blinds are in a very hard to reach place as are the plugs, that I would not have been able to access had my husband not been with me. I would suggest to the hotel that these be put on a remote control rather than in a fixed place. There was plenty of space for my child size powerchair in the room and en-suite but would advise taking your own soap if reaching is an issue for you as theirs is fixed to the wall. The lift itself is small so you will want to check its dimensions before booking.

After having a fab stay at Z Hotel Piccadilly, we decided to once again book in to stay at a Z Hotel, this time in Covent Garden. Sadly, this stay did not match expectations. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly. They issued the key card and we proceeded to our allocated room. We opened the door to find a dark, dingy room which contained an over-sized bunk bed. To say we were surprised is an understatement. Being Z members, we had expected an upgrade, as you advertise, and to view this room with bunk beds was a shock. Being retired and nearing 70, there was no way we would be comfortable or even easily able to be crawling in to a bottom bunk, with a very low bed base above us, so low we'd be unable up even sit up! The room was obviously designed for families with children or young travelers who were more able to get in and out. Ridiculous to allocate it to us. I returned to reception to register my unhappiness and let them know that, as members, we were expecting an upgraded room, not the very basic claustrophobic family room we were given. I was told they had no other rooms available to upgrade us, something I very much doubted! It was Sunday night, and on viewing the hotel from the outside in the evening around 9pm, there were obviously many rooms empty as many windows had open curtains and were in darkness. It appeared they were reluctant to upgrade us, in line with Z membership - I am not entirely sure why. After going away and then coming back to reception to state again that our room was not suitable, They did manage to find us a room with a double bed (still tiny and with no window) when I again stated we physically could not use the bunk bedded room. This room was better but the bed was pushed up against a locked door on one side, which did not give us a feeling of security whilst sleeping. The tv programming was way out on timing - programmes started were not what came up when you pressed the channel button. It appears the clock on the tv was out - it needs adjusting. The room was clean as was the bedding, but I spotted the next morning that a mattress topper was being used as a duvet, hence it was heavy, very warm and did not sit properly. The cheese and wine included in our deal was lovely and very much appreciated, although plate presentation could have been improved! At the Piccadilly the plate came with 4-5 cheeses, pickle, grapes and crackers. Delicious! This one was a couple of bits of cheese and a few crackers. Very plain! The access to hot drinks is an excellent perk. The cappuccinos were fab. All in all, this hotel is in a brilliant location - Covent Garden, Leicester Square, Chinatown are all easily walkable and the area has plenty of choice of restaurants and bars. The Actors Church and Gardens next door is worth a visit, but sadly this hotel does not live up to previous expectations and I don't think we will use it again. We'll go back to Piccadilly where being a Z member is appreciated!
