Z Hotel, conveniently located 300-400m from Charring Cross Station, and located near the Police station as a point of reference. The hotel is close to bars, shops, restaurants and only a short walk to all the playhouses in that area. The room we chose was small. We knew that upon booking, so only took a backpack each. Large suitcases would have been a nightmare. Rooms were clean, quiet and served our needs for closeness to the Theatre. Would stay there again, with backpack only!

Nice central location, quiet. Staff very friendly & helpful. Room very small (although expected from reviews) Bed tight against 3 walls, tv at foot of bed. Difficult at our age to clamber over sleeping partner to use the loo through the night! Bed very hard (we have a hard mattress at home, but this was awful) broken sleep, woke with bad backs each morning. Bathroom well appointed with lots of towels and body wash & shampoo. Hairdryer and good amount of charge points. We were also lucky with dual aspect windows! Nice to have free bottled water and tea & coffee facility. We ate a late breakfast toastie in the ‘restaurant’ which was very good. I’m afraid the poor bed let it down and we won’t be back to Z Hotels.

We stayed at the Trafalgar Z Hotel and, while the location is absolutely fantastic, the room itself was a real let‑down. The space was extremely small — realistically suited to one person rather than two. The bathroom was a frosted‑glass cube inside the room, which didn’t offer much privacy. There was nowhere proper to hang clothes, just a couple of hangers on the wall, and no space at all for a large suitcase, so packing light is essential. We paid an extra £60 for a room with a window, but the window was tiny and didn’t make much difference. We were also told we couldn’t use our member benefits because we had booked through Booking.com, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the hotel was very clean and the staff were pleasant throughout our stay. The location really is the highlight — ideal for exploring the area. Overall, great spot and friendly staff, but the room design and size made the stay less comfortable than expected.

“Due to the horrific bed I wouldn’t return”

Positives- excellent price for central London. Lovely friendly staff. First room given was 001 just next to restaurant and outside lift which was far too noisy so they happily changed my room to 0014. Very clean and tidy, unusual bathroom but excellent shower. Positives- excellent price for central London. Lovely friendly staff. First room given was 001 just next to restaurant and outside lift which was far too noisy so they happily changed my room to 0014. Very clean and tidy, unusual bathroom but excellent shower. You wouldn’t want to share with anyone other than your spouse as you can see through frosted glass. TV- it was a smart tv but no Netflix app or way of playing Netflix. Still decent selection with Sky channels. Nice selection of hot drinks particularly liked the Harrogate coffee bags. Negative- and for me why I won’t return. Bed was so so hard, basically felt like I was sleeping on hard floor. I woke up with back and hip pain and slept really badly. I don’t mind a firm bed but this was extreme. And I don’t think it is proper pillows- looked like folded up duvets squeezed in pillowcases. For me I need a good bed and unfortunately I won’t return to Z Hotels and run the risk of pain/lack of sleep.
