“Comfortable, centrally located, affordable”

We enjoyed our stay here. Easy check in, comfortable rooms, and we were located near many attractions and tons of restaurants and bars. We enjoyed our stay here. Easy check in, comfortable rooms, and we were located near many attractions and tons of restaurants and bars. It can get loud over night but we aren't light sleepers and honestly too tired to be kept up. The rooms have safes but you have to ask for a lock at the front desk. Some tips, the building is a bit hard to find because it doesn't have a big sign outside. You'll be looking for big wooden doors that has a buzzer with multiple hostal names on it. If you arrive a little before check in, kill some time by having a delicious lunch right next door at el museo de jamon. Or if you want breakfast really early, the Cafe & Tapas, which is right up the block, opens at 7am and has great food.

The hostel is located close to major touristic attractions, Plaza mayor, Puerta del Sol, Gran Via etc.The area is not appealing. Very congested and unclean. Traffic, small businesses above all eating joints and bars, lots of peolpe including beggers. The hostel is located in the 3rd floow of a typical old, relatively well kept building with elevator. The interior of the hostel feels safe, is quiet,clean & neat, well lit, organized as private rooms with private washroom. There's 24 hr.staff at the reception desk. Ruben & Tisis,were very pleasant, with excellent customer service skills, willing to go that extra mile in order to assist. The place is orgarnized as private rooms with washroom. The room was confortable and clean. It included working AC, TV & Wi-Fi. The washroom inlcuded a shower, it was clean, all fixtures in perfect working, toiletry was included. This hostel is a good value for money.

“Decent value for the price.”

Positives: The hotel is a two minute walk from the Sol station. You can walk to all the primary Madrid tourist sites from the hotel. The room is spacious as is the bathroom. Positives: The hotel is a two minute walk from the Sol station. You can walk to all the primary Madrid tourist sites from the hotel. The room is spacious as is the bathroom. The wifi connection is excellent. Staff speak English and are helpful. Shower always has hot water. Negatives: Not very qiuet which was expected given the location and previous reviews. My room faced out on to the street which made it worse. The soap/shampoo the hotel provides is useless, bring your own. The room and the bathroom don't have enough counter space to put things on and given how spacious both are, it seems odd. Hotel does not have an iron for use.

“It’s location is it’s main asset”

Madrid used to be relatively good value for a major European city. Not any more. The tourists have finally discovered this wonderful city and this is reflected in the prices. We paid an average of €85 per night for three nights at this Hostal. It’s location is superb - 2 minutes from Puerta del Sol. And in spite of the busy location the street noise was minimal thanks to two sets of shutters. Rooms next to ours were occupied by quiet guests but there was plenty of noise from above and below. WiFi was good. There was no shortage of hot water and the shower was good. But the room was very basic and very small - as was the (too soft) double bed. The bathroom was tiny. It was annoying that neither the washbasin nor the small bath had plugs. I was told they were not available. There was no problem with cleanliness. The room had an air conditioner but by the absence of the controller I assume it’s only available when staff decide it’s too hot. All of these criticisms might be acceptable for a one night stay or a lower price. But for us this hostal was on the wrong side of marginal.
