“Bad first night, better recovery after room change”

We booked a 4D3N stay in Malacca from 23 to 26 March 2026 and only checked in around 10pm because the jam from Singapore to Malacca was extremely bad. The drive took almost 8 hours with 3 young kids below 5 years old, so by the time we arrived, we were already exhausted. We originally booked the animal themed room but were surprised to be given the Lego room instead. Honestly, we did not make it a big issue at that point because we were just too tired and wanted to settle the kids, shower them, and feed our infant. Unfortunately, the kitchen area was quite disappointing. There were cockroaches and a strong cockroach smell. There was also a used towel or sheet hanging behind the toilet door, which made the cleanliness feel even more questionable. At around 4am, I woke up to prepare milk for my baby and saw even more cockroaches. About 40 minutes after settling down and unpacking, while I was feeding my baby milk, our main door suddenly opened and 3 ladies walked into our room. I was honestly shocked. My husband quickly went to check what was happening and apparently there had been a double booking issue. The management later came up to apologise and asked whether we could move to the animal themed room the next day because the other guests wanted the Lego room. They also mentioned they would compensate us. We agreed, but to be honest, my husband and I could barely sleep that night because we were worried and felt the need to stay alert and guard the apartment. The next day, we moved to the animal themed room and the whole experience completely changed. The room was very clean, comfortable, and honestly felt like a totally different stay. We managed to enjoy the remaining days of our trip after that. The management did compensate us with a RM400 refund, which we appreciated, but it only came about 3 weeks later after we had to text and send reminders to follow up on it. Overall, it was definitely quite an experience and not something we would wish on anyone, especially families travelling with small children. Giving 3 stars because although the service recovery was a little slow, the management still tried their best to make things right in the end.

“Short Getaway...”

Nice view of the sunset, beautiful night light. Lucky to see the fireworks. The room was spacious, Bed not comfortable, and pillow was too soft. The room is clean but the bathroom was not clean properly.
