The MO is in a great setting in KLCC with a metro station just about 5 minutes from hotel. It over looks KLCC park with it's evening fountain show and also by the Petronas towers. There are two shopping malls (Suria is full of designer shops) with food options. If you like shopping it's a great spot to stay. We had a large room overlooking the park and swimming pool. Sadly we didn't spend much time at the hotel as we had some busy days but appreciated a dip in the pool after a hot morning of sight seeing. The hotel is very opulent in style, exceptionally clean and with helpful staff. This was one of the best hotels we have stayed in. It was pretty easy to get to Petaling Street and Central market via the metro and we did go up to Batu Caves (check the train times). If we return to KL we hope to return to MO.

Parc Suite - 5 Nights Let me start with what the Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur undeniably gets right: location and people. Sitting literally steps from the Petronas Twin Towers and KLCC Park, the address is as good as it gets in KL. The staff across the board were warm, professional, and genuinely engaged — this is where the MO DNA shines through. From the very first moment, Daniel at the Reception set the tone perfectly. Our suite required some adjustments upon arrival, and he handled everything with kindness and efficiency — turning what could have been a frustrating start into a completely frictionless check-in. That kind of quiet competence matters. The Concierge team managed all our requests and bookings via WhatsApp with impressive responsiveness. They set us up with 3 of the 16 tour packages on offer through Hidden Asia Travel & Tour — and these turned out to be a highlight of our KL stay (we continued on to Langkawi, which set the bar high). Our guide and driver Elen deserves his own paragraph. He arrived each morning in a pristine, spotless, comfortable car and delivered what I can only describe as a butter-smooth ride through KL’s notorious traffic. But far beyond his driving skills, Elen offered extraordinarily deep knowledge of Malaysian history, culture, economics, and the broader regional context. He transformed sightseeing into a genuinely enriching experience. No joke — Elen is a Must in and around KL. Now for the honest part. We stayed in a Park Suite and while the space and park views were pleasant, the rooms are definitively outdated — and frankly, for a property at this price point and with the MO name above the door, that was a real disappointment. We learned during our stay about an upcoming renovation program, and having seen the current condition firsthand, we can only say it cannot come soon enough. This is not a minor cosmetic issue — it genuinely undermines the luxury promise of the brand. MO Bar was equally disappointing — particularly the terrace on the park side, which looks beautiful in the photos but fails completely to deliver that atmosphere in person. Breakfast at Mosaic also fell short of MO standards. The variety is adequate, but the quality and refinement are simply not at the level one expects from this brand. On a bright note, MO Grill was genuinely excellent — food quality, presentation, and service were all on point. This is the MO experience you come for. Bottom line: Four stars because Daniel, the Concierge team, and especially Elen deliver a genuinely exceptional human experience. But the physical product — rooms, bar, breakfast — needs urgent attention. The renovation is not just overdue, it is owed to the guests paying MO rates. Book the tours, dine at MO Grill, ask for Elen — and consider returning once the renovation is complete.

I recently stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in Malaysia for the first time. This property is a large conference hotel, which makes it quite different from the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong. While the hotel is a bit older and could benefit from refurbishment, there are many positives. The rooms are spacious and offer fantastic views over either the city or the park. True to the Mandarin Oriental standard, we were welcomed with a lovely gift, and the service throughout our stay was impeccable. The hotel is also very conveniently located for exploring the city. That said, if you are looking for a more modern hotel experience, there may be better options in the area. Overall, it’s a comfortable stay with excellent service, especially for those who value space and location. Note: This hotel does have smoking rooms although we were not affected by any of the odor
