Is this a 5 star hotel? No. Is this hotel a great value and newly renovated? Yes! Booked this property through capital one to use up my travel credit. I had read some not so great reviews but since learning the hotel had been recently renovated(I think they are still working on it), we decided to go for it. The location is not bad. It’s about 2km from the very center of town. The malecon (boardwalk) goes by the hotel so you could easily walk, bike, rollerblade into town. Upon check in we were upgraded (Bonvoy member). With the superior room. We had a queen bed and fold down sofa bed(no bars or springs) We also had a kitchenette area with sink,fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. I will add that while there is no closet, there is a hanging bar, a wall mounted shelf, several hanging hooks and abundant counter/ desk space. We had 3 people in the room and we had enough room for all of our stuff. The bathroom sink seemed a little dated, but the shower and toilet were new and seemed to be water saving models. We could see the ocean but we could also see all the cast offs from the renovation job. The pool is nice Nd even the umbrellas are new. Breakfast is included and consisted of: 2 types of fresh fruit that changed daily 2 types of cheese Sliced ham and turkey Corn flakes and Frosted Flakes Plain and strawberry yogurt Cottage cheese Assorted bread and pastries Scrambled eggs Refried beans Fresh salsa Tortilla chips Cheese , cream, cilantro and onions They also had brewed coffee as well as a machine to make espresso. For the ~$150/night this really is a solid hotel and leaves you lots of money for other fun stuff on your vacation.
