I travel to Mexico City about three or times a year and I tend to stay here if. For a long time I stayed in Roma or closer to the downtown, but the value this place offers is just to big to ignore. In terms of the rooms I'm convinced after staying in close to 20 different hotels in Mexico City, that the ones at Krystal Insurgentes are nicer, better appointed and bigger than any you will find for the price range I've been able to stay at here. You might ask what prompted this review? Well, as I was leaving I remembered during my latest stay that the staff deeply impressed me with several acts kindness; including getting great training from their barista about how to improve my coffee making skills. It's the type of experiences one cherishes when you travel.

“Nice hotel with a number of small flaws”

The hotel is nice overall, with quite spacious rooms. The beds are comfortable as well and the staff are friendly. There's a water carafe in the lobby as well as nice seating. The hotel restaurant (above the lobby) has good food, if a bit pricey. Some issues that could use improvement: 1) There are a ton of scratches (not small ones) on the floor. The flooring material is obviously easily scratched by moving the heavy furniture. 2) The hotel is on a busy street and, though the windows are pretty good, some road noise can still be heard. The window in my shower was closed, but not tightly (screws needed to be tightened) so that also could have helped. 3) When I arrived, there was no fridge in the place where it should have been. On the upside, when I told the front desk, someone brought one within 10 minutes. 4) The beds have only the comforter, and no top sheets or lighter blankets. I had to ask twice before I finally had a sheet sent to my room. 5) The HVAC control in the rooms is dysfunctional. You set it for a temperature, but it only stops at that temperature if the fan is on auto. When I had it on low and set it for 21 C at night, I woke in the middle of the night and it was 18 C. This should be an easy fix, or at least should be communicated to guests. 6) The rooms also get incredibly hot during the day. I came back in the evening and it was 30.5 C in my room, I guess because of the sun on the windows during the day. It was just remarkable given that it wasn't nearly that hot outside. The a/c did cool it down fairly quickly though, once turned on. 7) The desk chair wasn't in great shape (see photo)
