Arrived at the hotel just after 10pm. Hotel bar closes at 10pm, they then switch to room service only. They tell you to call room service who never answered the phone, had to call the reception again who reluctantly took our order. On one occasion we called three times and after 35 minutes the items finally arrived. Service all over the hotel generally is slow. Bearing in mind the hotel was not busy and there were plenty of staff this was odd. Staff were friendly and polite but need to work on their speed of service. The rooms are a little dated in their decor but they are clean, with Housekeeping attending the room every day. Well done to Housekeeping, they clearly work hard in such a large hotel. Public areas were cleaned daily and to a good standard. Drainage smell was evident in our room on the first night but did pass. I would guess that this is because the hotel is very quiet at the moment and the systems arent being flushed enough. Housekeeping, maybe a good idea to flush your drains through with a good quality cleaner. We opted for the bed and breakfast option, which was ok. We did have lunch a couple of times which was freshly cooked and value for money. When we were shown to our room the bellboy mentioned the lovely view, I missed his sarcasm at that point and only realised later that he was refering to the building work directly outside the hotel, which ruins the view! This was never mentioned to me at the time of booking and my relaxing holiday then became so much noiser than I wanted! Every morning around 8/9am they started using the heavy machinery which lasted to around 5/6pm. The hotel is in what used to be a thriving area, but since Covid (according to a taxi driver we used quite alot) lots of hotels had shut and never reopened which is evident when you walk around the area. It is somewhat derelict in parts which is a shame. The whole of Marrakesh seems to be under construction. Should anyone wish to visit Ourika Waterfall please note this is not an easy trek for those with mobility issues, elderly or young children. We saw lots of people in sandals and dresses which were not suitable. Its about an hour to reach the waterfall itself with the climb in parts being described by the guides as 'challenging'. If you do go, be prepared. If you visit The Square as the taxi drivers call it or its official name of Jemaa el-Fnaa be aware of the usual scams. People with chained monkeys wanting you to take pictures for inflated prices, Cab drivers trying to add on more money on fares, Horse and carts and 'lookie lookies' with various items. The food stalls can be quite aggressive too. And if you like a beer or a wine with your dinner be aware that unlike other muslim countries (Tunisia, Turkey) you will not be able to purchase alcohol outside of your own hotel.

The following review aims to be impartial and fair. For context - We have not travelled extensively nor are we a particularly fussy family! We booked two separate rooms (236/237) and the experience differed from one room to the next. There were 2 adults and 4 children in total. Pros: - Spacious rooms - garden/pool area is vast and well maintained. - friendly cleaning staff - breakfast was ok (although very repetitive). Water melon as delicious! - nice balcony with a view - working tv with english movie channel for entertainment Cons: - AC worked really well in room 236 but not in 237. A fan was given as replacement. This worked quite effectively but did not replicate the coolness of room 236. - decor is dated - bathroom towels seem to be in short supply and not the best quality - room cards often stopped working. To conclude, the hotel is not as bad as some people have made out (in our opinion) but there is certainly room for improvements. I would visit again with adjusted expectations that this is not a genuine 4* hotel (like most places in Morocco)
