“Definitely recommend the Criterion Motel”
We had a great stay at this motel. Handy to all the main shops, only two doorways from the French Bakery. Very clean and tidy. Friendly and helpful hosts. Checked out some of the other accommodation options in town, we made a good choice with the Criterion Motel.

“Very good place to stay”
Very good place to stay - clean, well maintained property and spacious room, reasonably priced; comfortable and quiet. Location is convenient within walking distance of several restaurants (and essentially almost all of Akaroa). We only stayed one night, but would definitely stay here again.

“Came through well when weather caused problems”
A great location overlooking the bay and close to the supermarket. The room was good and will supplied. The key thing to call out though, is how accommodating the proprietors were when heavy rain flooded the local roads stranding tourists in the town for 36 hours and knocking out internet connectio… more

This is an excellent motel with large well equipped rooms. They were clean and comfortable. The owner was welcoming and made good recommendations for what to do and where to eat. If possible, ask for a second floor room because they have excellent views, the downside being you have to carry your lu… more

“Ideal location- very good accommodation”
We flew in from Adelaide, hired a car and drove to Akaroa - amazing scenery. On arrival found the Criterion and as it was a Saturday and after 5 there was no one in attendance but a note to me stuck on the office door. All good so far.
