Hotel is a great base for exploring Tongariro National Park area. Friendly service, have a hot pool for common use. Rooms are pretty basic, but will have everything you need, pretty clean and tidy. “Very friendly staff and hotel with an outdoor jacuzzi”

The hotel is old. We got a quad room. Staff are very friendly. In the early morning when the windshield of our car was covered with a thin layer of ice, without asking a staff came out with a pot of water and pour it on the windshield, and we were ready to go. The hotel is old. We got a quad room. Staff are very friendly. In the early morning when the windshield of our car was covered with a thin layer of ice, without asking a staff came out with a pot of water and pour it on the windshield, and we were ready to go. It’s above and beyond what one would expect, and we were deeply impressed. The room is a duplex and was small. The bathroom was small as well, but the water temperature and pressure are ok. Wind came in from the leak of the window on the upper floor, so we used the additional blanket provided. There’s a standalone heater provided. Internet connection in the room is not very good. The food in the restaurant is ok. There’s an outdoor jacuzzi and it’s a joy to be in there after a long day’s hike.

Recently stayed here while we did the Tongariro Crossing hike. Room and beds were fine, but biggest drawback was only one tap in bathroom that wouldn't accommodate filling water bottles or even the electric jug provided. Recently stayed here while we did the Tongariro Crossing hike. Room and beds were fine, but biggest drawback was only one tap in bathroom that wouldn't accommodate filling water bottles or even the electric jug provided. Lack of soundproofing also meant a bit of trouble getting to sleep. Overall, value for money but missing a few niceties.

We had a twin bed room with a double bed in the loft. The space in the loft was good, plus a refreshing window (although traffic is on the highway all night, so bring earplugs). We had a twin bed room with a double bed in the loft. The space in the loft was good, plus a refreshing window (although traffic is on the highway all night, so bring earplugs). The bed was SUPER comfortable, especially after completing the Alpine Crossing. The downstairs was dark and cramped. The wardrobe/bathroom and kitchen area is one little corner. The bathroom is clean but tiny; not a lot of hooks or places to hang towels from the bathroom. The restaurant was convenient and had good food—had a delicious and filling salmon filet; my partner had a delicious spaghetti Bolognese. A little pricey, but there are not a lot of choices in the village. Can get very busy with your groups, so check for best times to eat. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the rooms were really clean.
