“Could almost be at a hunting lodge in Scotland”

We used the lodge as our accommodation for two nights whilst walking in the Tongariro National Park. The grounds were beautiful and the chalet was pristine and very comfortable. The staff were all really nice and helpful and we loved the hot tub that you could book for yourselves after a hard day of walking. The meals in the restaurant were really fabulous so we didn't venture out into town but feasted in a lovely "hunting lodge" ambiance each night.

“Connected to the best of NZ nature”

We very much enjoyed our 4 day stay at this lodge. It was the perfect base for fly fishing and white water rafting activities. We very much enjoyed our 4 day stay at this lodge. It was the perfect base for fly fishing and white water rafting activities. The grounds are well kept and the 3 bedroom cottage we stayed in was comfortable, clean, private, and did a great job connecting us with nature. Stay we are super friendly and helpful. We had a couple dinners at the lodge and although the food and service was great, we found it was overpriced. There are other options in the town 5min away. That said, I would not hesitate to recommend this place.

Cabins are basic but clean and adequate The bathrooms a little tired. Insufficient toiletries for a 3 night's stay. However the grounds are beautiful and well maintained in a lovely spot. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. The Duty manager ( who's name is can't spell- sorry - ) was particularly helpful and friendly. The restaurant is superb. Beautifully cooked fresh food cooked to order.. a limited menu but enabling lovely food. The fish Sliders for a starter were delicious. Coupled with the efficient and friendly waiting staff snd the views from the restaurant makes a great evening. Highly recommended but be warned the portions are very generous Accommodation 4 star Restaurant 5 star

“Disappointing,and don’t expect a quiet night”

We were disappointed in TongariroLodge.. The staff are great and try and help when asked, but the fabric of the chalets, and their housekeeping, are not. We were disappointed in TongariroLodge.. The staff are great and try and help when asked, but the fabric of the chalets, and their housekeeping, are not. Rooms are serviced only once every three days, they lack useful things like coat hooks, the TVs aren’t tuned, and their walls are certainly not soundproof. We could hear every word of our neighbours conversations,. We banged on the adjoining wall at midnight, which partly succeeded in sensitising them to the fact that they weren’t the only people in the world, but then prompted them to have showers . Maybe try asking reception if you can have a chalet with considerate neighbours !
