We stayed here for 2 nights with RSD Tours on their Balkan Week. The hotel is situated right on the Lake and, if you have a lake view, the balcony view is amazing. The hotel was used, in Yugoslavian times, as a hotel for workers when they had their 1 week holiday. The rooms aren't spacious but they were ok, clean but tired. No in room hospitality, not even a kettle. The bathroom shower was ok, the sink was slightly slanted so you had to be careful things didn't end up on the floor. The TV worked but we only watched the football as no English channels. Not really an issue though. We didn't buy the food package from RSD but there isn't anything close by, so if you do the same, make sure you have some supplies with you. Only 1 assessible power point in the room too. The breakfast was good, lots to choose from and enough to feel satisfied. Staff friendly and nice seating areas in the hotel. You can also walk through the grounds to the lake side and that's a nice walk along the lake.

We stopped in Hotel Granite just one night due to a 24 hours delay for flight home. They were more friendly than the previous hotel staff and seem to speak and understand English more. They knew their manners too which was better than the previous hotel. They provided us with lunch as we had sat in tiny Orhid airport for nearly six hours. No restaurants in airport. That was nice. We were also provided with tea and breakfast. Similar to previous hotel but different choices and warmer. Still Balkan typical food. Had fish fingers for tea which you didn't get at other hotel. Buffet style meals no Al a carte restaurant. However a lot closer to City of Orhid for evening meals so taxi would have been a lot cheaper. Therefore more choice of evening meals. They is also evening entrainment on certain days we didn't to see any due having to be up early for transfers. Nice calm swimming pool but outsiders get charged to use. At bottom of hillside there were the opportunity to pay for water activities (not part of hotel). There was none at previous hotel. Little bars very nearby but they shut very early. No weddings we had to endure every night at previous hotel. We had a road view from our room thought it would be loud but it wasn't once window shut. It would have been a nice view from lakeside views. However the hallways design and room were straight out of the 1970's with bright orange walls and dark mahogany furniture and thick carpeted floors. Smelt like it too. If it had a complete internal redecorating it has the potential to be a really nice hotel. Just outside the ochrid city but cheap enough to go in for nighttime meals and far enough to relax.

We only stayed for one night as this was the hotel chosen for us by Tui after our return flight was delayed for 24 hours. Hotel was built in the 1970's and you can guess this without consulting Google. Food was OK and it is a great location for swimming in the lake. There is also a tennis court and 'beach' bars (we saw no sandy beaches at Lake Ohrid), but the hotel backs onto a main road without pavements, so you go for a walk at your own risk. A long way from Ohrid, it felt a little isolated, a bit like a prison. It certainly isn't a 4-star as per the Tui brochure. Don't book here unless you intend to spend a week by the pool and/or the lake.
