Old school family run hotel in a quiet part of Bergen well away from all the noise and ‘hubbub’ around the water front. Very simple but clean and friendly with delicious breakfast and very good value for money compared to the super high prices elsewhere! We were in first floor and I did not see a lift anywhere? So if on upper floors you might want to check. Yes walls are thin, but looking at the demographic staying there no risk of wild late night parties. We were not disturbed. Tiny rooms and even tinier shower rooms with very noise fans. But we were much happier there than the grander stuffier places

I didn’t really like this hotel. Yes, the bathrooms are small but honestly, it was typical for other bathrooms we had while we were in norway. I didn’t really like this hotel. Yes, the bathrooms are small but honestly, it was typical for other bathrooms we had while we were in norway. My issues were the paper thin walls (we were on the first floor behind the reception desk and could hear people talking, the phone ringing, etc) and the curtains/blinds that didn’t quite close (our view was the parking lot). There were vertical blinds which did not completely close (I semi closed these when we first got to the room and figured I would close these curtains when we went to bed). When we went to bed, we realized the curtains did not completely cover the window. My husband pushed a chair and a table up to try to hold the curtains somewhat in place. I did not ask for a new room at this pt because we were only there overnight and were tired and ready for bed. The person at the front desk was polite and helpful and the hotel was outside of the busy downtown area (which could be a positive or a negative). It ended up being fairly noisy at night because the college students were just moving back in and were out all night partying (not the hotels fault). Based on other reviews, it may really depend on which room you get.

A hotel that's a bit different and with distinct pluses and minuses. In a quiet residential area 25 minutes walk from the centre and 12 minutes from the station. We were in room 14. The bed was OK, though it creaked a bit. Room nicely decorated and well equipped including a small fridge and a kettle. Shower room was very cramped although the shower itself was good. One big negative was the poor sound insulation - we could hear everything that happened in the adjacent room. Nice continental style breakfast with plenty of choice and good ingredients. Friendly and helpful reception staff. There is no evening meal served and available restaurants are 5 to 20 minutes walk away. The last 50 metres up to the hotel is a steep hill and there is no lift, so it's not really suitable if you're not fit.
