“Lovely Property in the Heart of the Historic District”

Lovely property in the heart of the historic district. Located within walking distance of the Bryggen area, museums, funicular, fish market, restaurants, and shops. Staff was very friendly, the breakfast buffet was delicious, and the black out curtains work!

We stayed in a Deluxe loft room. The positives were that it is a really interesting and historic building, the bed was very comfortable and the room was spotlessly clean. The housekeeping staff were very friendly. The hotel is really well located for visiting Bergen and discovering the city. The main older guy on reception was friendly and helpful. We found the other reception staff to be quite disengaged and on their phones a lot of the time. The breakfast was unremarkable. Whilst the bread was lovely, everything else seemed like it was just bulk buy from wholesaler. There was no welcome to breakfast, the first day we realised it was just find a seat and serve yourself which was disappointing compared to all the other hotels on our Scandinavian trip. The range of food was limited and there was only one person on duty clearing tables and refilling the buffet who didn’t really want to engage with customers. It may be the hotel was impacted by the hospitality strikes, if so, they should have said. To make this a 5/5 just requires more friendliness from everyone who has a customer facing role and an improvement on the breakfast food quality and breakfast room welcome.

Perfectly located central to all sites, shops and restaurants a very pleasant hotel, nice bar area. Our room was the attic 442. Large room with a large bathroom, bath and shower but only attic windows no views. And also 16 steps up after the entrance door, not for the unfit with luggage. But comfortable enough for one night and equipped with tea and coffee which is always good. Breakfast was very good. All self serviced, choice cereals, fresh fruit, croissant, breads with selection of cold meats, boiled eggs, cheeses and of course several cold fish options. Hot choices were sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs. With juices, tea and coffee a great start to the day.

I feel the photos of the rooms were somewhat misleading. What we saw was way different than what we got basically a labyrinth to find the room elevator, and stairs involved. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nice. The shower was too small but nice There was multiple windows in the room, but we could only open one of them about 2 inches unfortunately got quite warm during the night. There’s no air-conditioning or ceiling fans. I will say there’s a great location to all the fun stuff nearby but also somewhat noisy because of this location earplugs are a must. We’re there an early summer so the flying alarm clocks they call seagulls kick in about 4:45 in the morning. That was a bit of a shock. My biggest complaint is with Nicholas He was manning the desk and also running the teeny bar in the lobby when he was actually there he would disappear for 30 minutes at a time so even if we wanted to drink in their little bar, there is no one there to help us So on the second day because of their limited selection, we bought our own drinks. They only have one type of wine, which I did not care for again. He was nowhere to be found so we’re just enjoying ourselves in the teeny lobby. He finally shows up and informed us that we’re not consume outside sourced beverages, and then disappears again for 30 minutes. so even if we wanted to order a drink from their minimally stocked bar, he was hiding in the restaurant on his phone with the door shut. The other staff that we encountered were very friendly and accommodating Breakfast that’s included was very good. The coffee was great! So unfortunately, if I’m to be honest for the money we spent, I would look elsewhere
