My wife and I stayed for five nights and the Clarion Hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. All communication with the hotel before travelling was promptly replied to. We requested a quiet room on a high floor and Hermann on reception gave us an excellent room on the 7th floor which looked out over a courtyard on which we never saw or heard anyone. Very quiet at night. The room was perfect for our needs. The bed was very comfortable. There was a chair, desk and chair and storage space. The bathroom was excellent with a great shower. All areas of the hotel were very clean. The breakfast was exceptional - so much choice to suit all tastes. We particularly enjoyed the choices of cereals and yoghurts, cheeses, breads, omelettes and pancakes and the fried breakfast. The breakfast room was large and very relaxing with room to move around even when busy. The location was perfect - very close to the Munch museum and Opera House and a few minutes walk to the Central station. There was a bus stop just outside the hotel. Great location for walking into the city shopping streets and central sights. A great hotel! Highly recommended. Although this did not detract from our enjoyment of the property, the USB and sockets in the room were extremely poor chargers of mobiles. The WiFi was very good. The transport system is very integrated and very easy to use. As an added bonus, seniors get a generous discount on travel and in many places of interest. 24 hour tickets are good value if you travel on three or more journeys in 24 hours. Our favourite places to visit were the Munch museum (the "Scream" and other Munch paintings were very interesting) and the Opera Hall roof is different and with an interesting all round view of the harbour. We enjoyed a day on Bygdoynes visiting the Folk museum and Fram museum. Both especially good - in particular the Pharmacy museum in the Folk museum. The Royal Palace is worth a visit too as ius the Ski Jump tower which is a ride on the metro from the centre. Great views over the city and fiord. We had two meals at the Fiskeriet Bjorvika restaurant. the fish and chips was excellent and the fish soup was also very good. Situated by the fiord side it was a pleasant place to relax, eat and see the view. We also had two meals in the Barcode Street Food - excellent food. One night we had marinated salmon in a asian type salad and another night we had a Senegalese beef and stew dish. Both excellent. Haral's Waffels is worth the bus ride to eat the best waffles - freshly made
