As other reviewers have noted, this hotel is right on the water, and is a very, very short walk from the ferry terminal. This makes it extremely convenient for either a business trip or a vacation to explore the Brekstad peninsula. The hotel is part of a complex that includes the municipal offices and services of Brekstad, including the library. The rooms are basic but comfortable. The breakfast buffet is fabulous, as was the catering for our several days of meetings. Get ready to have excellent fish dishes available at every meal - including breakfast if you so choose.

I stayed here in December 2019, not the warmest or brightest month to be working in central coastal Norway. However, the stay turned out to be both warm and welcoming. It has possibly the most convenient location in Brekstad. About a one minute walk from the fast boat terminal, or a two minute drive from the car ferry. I arrived by the latter, simple to follow the signs from the ferry, just look for 'Hotell'. In fact you see it as soon as you turn the corner. I see previous reviewers have complained about the parking, but I cannot work out why as the car park was well signposted. Yes, it is across the road from the hotel, but again it is about a one minute walk. Hardly difficult! The hotel is located within Brekstad's community centre, the reception being up a short flight of steps. Check in was very straightforward, and I was soon in the lift up to my third floor room. The lift isn't fantastic; in fact it's very slow! However, I only used it at the start and end of my stay, when with bags, otherwise I used the stairs. So to the room, pretty much what you would expect from a Scandinavian hotel. Clean, comfortable, warm. Minimal space to store clothes (seems they just don't expect guests to stay more than one night, my stay was for three), lots of lighting. The bathroom was a little dated, but lots of hot water from the shower and a sink with a plug, so that makes me happy. Rooms ending with even numbers in the main corridor face the back (west), so not much of a view. However, it was dark most of the time, so that really didn't make much difference. Room ending in odds face the fjord (east), so better views. That said, some people seem to complain about the noise from the ferries as the hotel is on the waterfront, but as they don't operate for most of the night, I guess those people party hard and try to sleep it off during the day! The hotel has a nice restaurant for more formal evening dining and then set for breakfast. I liked the breakfast set-up, good selection of Norwegian food and enough cereals and fruit for this Brit's taste. Tables are set for groups of 2-5 around a large central bench. Evening meals and lunch can also be taken in the bar area, slightly less formal than the restaurant. Large windows in both rooms give lovely views into Trondheimfjord, with ferries arriving and departing on a regular basis. In the evening, this area felt really warm, enclosed fires and subdued lighting gave it a very calm ambience. I loved the food too, really nice burgers, and for one lunch the fish soup was delicious. There is also coffee continually on the go, and water, set on a table in the reception area. To be honest there aren't many options in Brekstad so I can't make any comparisons. I enjoyed my stay here, and look forwards to a reply in February.

Great lunch deals with fair price during weekdays. Weekend lunch was also good but menu was not given in advance by booking.
