“Great stay at Vista Machu Picchu”

Juan Carlos was great and helped us with our bags to the train station. Staff was very helpful. Wonderful location, good breakfast, clean room & bathroom and a great value for the price. Breakfast was delicious.

This is a fun hotel if you’re in a trekkie mindset and want to be close to the action. The room was clean with comfortable bed and did have a nice view. But we felt a little deceived by the pictures and description. We had no idea the hotel is directly above the railroad so the roon rumbles with the sound of trains until late into the night and even once in the middle of the night. The thin walls means no sound protection which was nerve racking with our alarms set for 4Am to see the sunrise on Machu Picchu. But in a different phase of life we would have loved this room. The little balcony overlooks the bustling little town and railroads and mountains. It’s a big step up from a hostel but not the tranquil balcony room overlooking the mountains like we thought. So as long as you know what you’re getting into it’s great and a great price. The staff was excellent - super helpful and kind. They let us store our luggage after checkout while we spent the day at Machu Picchu and offered to prepare sack lunches. The bathroom was less impressive than the picture with windows that open to the hallways, rickety and flimsy shower doors, and scratchy towels. But again, it’s all about expectations. If you’re in a trekkie and economical state of mind this is your place. If you’re looking for a quiet view of the river and mountains, not so much.

Stayed here for one night as a big student group before heading out to Machu Picchu. Wifi wasn't great, but unlike a lot of other places it had good hot water. I didn't check out the pool situation. Only complaint I really have is that it didn't feel super safe. We've been traveling through Peru and I've never been worried, but when I went downstairs at like 4am the glass door was just propped closed with a chair. It's a touristy area, and our rooms have locks, so I felt fine but it was just a moment of "okayyy then."
