The primary objective for this stay at Belmont Hotel Manila was convenience, efficiency, and a frictionless transition from the airport to the guest room. Because flying is incredibly tiring, the check-in process was strategically coordinated ahead of time. To eliminate any waiting or administrative delays upon landing in the Philippines, my Personal Assistant and Office Manager checked into the hotel first, ahead of my arrival. The goal was straightforward: ensure that all registration paperwork, identification verification, and initial room allocations were fully completed in advance. This allowed me to arrive at the property, collect the pre-programmed key card immediately upon entry, and head straight to the room to rest without standard front-desk delays. While I am somewhat satisfied with the convenience of this arrangement and the consistent friendliness of the staff, the overall stay was compromised by a notable discrepancy between the room that was booked and paid for, and the physical room that was ultimately assigned. 2. Operational Analysis: The Check-In Experience and Room Discrepancy While my personal experience from the moment I stepped onto the property was smooth and pleasant, a comprehensive evaluation must account for the end-to-end process, including the pre-arrival check-in managed by my PA/Office Manager. Looking at the experience through her eyes reveals significant areas where hotel operations and booking fulfillments failed to align. The booking was explicitly made for a specific tier of room that featured a city view. However, because my Personal Assistant was the one handling the physical check-in process prior to my arrival, it appears the hotel took advantage of her representative status, or a breakdown in front-desk communication occurred. Instead of receiving the premium room configuration reserved online, we were downgraded to a room with absolutely no view. Furthermore, the physical dimensions of the assigned room were noticeably smaller than what was reasonably expected based on the promotional photos provided on the internet. Online marketing materials set a specific standard for space and layout, and the room provided fell short of that expectation. It is highly probable that because the principal guest was not present at the exact moment of check-in, the front desk assigned a lesser inventory room, assuming it would pass unnoticed. While the goal of getting the key card and heading straight to the room was achieved to alleviate travel fatigue, it came at the cost of receiving a lower-value room than what was purchased. 5. However, operational oversights regarding room allocation risk overshadowing the excellent work done by these frontline employees. 6.
