Plantation Bay Resort and Spa honestly is a truly delightful tropical escape that feels like stepping into a serene, colonial-style village paradise. No other resort comes close. The resort creates a wonderfully secluded and peaceful atmosphere with its expansive 11-hectare grounds, and wide, private lagoons. It is fairly accessible, a 20-30 minute drive from the airport and an ideal location for light exploration to Cebu City via nearby bridge while being away from the hustle and bustle. The room features elegant plantation-inspired touches with high ceilings, comfortable furnishings, and stunning views overlooking the lagoon. I love how quiet is our room and the bathroom creates a perfect space to unwind and unique showering experience with its separate tub and shower. Everything feels, clean, fresh, and thoughtfully designed for comfort. Despite its reasonable value, the rooms lack modern technology features such as smart TVs, wireless charging ports, and entertainment systems. These features may be considered outdated for tech-savvy travelers. The food was a pleasant surprise at the Fiji Restaurant. There are plenty of flavors to choose from and they all look so good in Instagram and more delicious when you try. We thank Claudette for her wonderful introduction of the menu and her suggestions. Portions were generous, and flavors were well-executed. Kudos to the Executive Chef of this property! One of the highlights of our stay was the great spa experience at Mogambo Springs. The staffs were exceptionally well-trained, professional and genuinely caring that made our treatment soothing and left us feeling relaxed. While the facilities are impressive, some guests might find certain areas of lagoons and activities occasionally temporarily unavailable, and cleanliness around pool should be maintained regularly. These are minor points in an otherwise wonderful and relaxing stay. Plantation Bay Resort and Spa is a truly renowned, top-notch destination, and the Filipino hospitality here is what truly shines. The resort is dated but well maintained. Staff is warm and efficient. Requests for items needed in the room are attended to quickly. There are a lot of things you can do without leaving the resort - paddle boarding, archery, wall climbing, biking, tennis, and more. Food was just okay, despite their website claim that their great food is what sets them apart. Really, of the 4 resorts in Mactan that I've stayed in over the years, the food here was the least impressive. Also, we were told at one point that since we were a big group, our lunch order could take up to two hours even if we had a reservation. I'm not sure in which part of Earth a two hour wait for food at a restaurant is considered acceptable. For the record though, the last one in our group to get his order got it an hour after ordering. They have odd policies on noise, as well. While I really appreciate that they don't allow voice calls in dining areas, at one point, a member of our party got a bit loud while laughing and a waitress approached him to tone it down. I'd get it if we were disturbing other guests, but we were literally the only people in that restaurant. And this was during lunchtime, not at night when we might disturb people trying to sleep. Albeit reprimanded politely, that was the only time I felt the staff was unnecessarily rude. Read the room. While I mostly enjoyed my stay, a return visit is something I'd only consider if it was the choice of other people in a big traveling group.
