Overall a really good experience. We had looked for months at lots of different hotels, but once we were there, we were so glad we booked the double gem. The others we looked at were too close to el Nido town, a lovely town but very busy and loud, so definitely not somewhere we'd have enjoyed staying. We had a beach front/pool view room, which meant we were away from the main road (as that's at the back) and we couldn't hear any noise from our room, thank goodness as that road never stops! The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. A few downsides, one of them being that we would order a drink and the staff would sit back down and scroll on their phones (three staff) they would not start making your drink, you'd wait a while and you'd have to ask again for your drink. One day we waited 40 minutes for a drink and had to ask them twice where our drink was. You can order food and the food would be out before your drink (the hotel was not busy, somedays there would only be a couple at the bar, so no excuse for not just making drinks straight away). We gave up and started just ordering cans of pop or beer for the quickest, as they pass you them straight out the fridge. So not good if you like cocktails. Another major downside for me was; we booked because they had a pool and I wanted some downtime during our stay, we obviously paid more than we would for a hotel that didn't have a pool. But when we arrived we went around the pool and they only had hard wooden double loungers, they were horrible, so uncomfortable to lie on. Meaning we never got to have relaxing pool day. We enjoyed the pool and it's fantastic that it's open till 9pm as warm all evening, but would have been nice to set up for the whole day. Be able to lie down, fall asleep, tan a little then get back in the pool. In our last day I saw a girl being given the foam overlays for the loungers and I asked the staff and they brought one over. I was gutted, I'd not known all week, I would have spent more time around the pool if I could have lay down comfy. Got chatting to other couples and they had no idea about the cushions either. I asked the staff member why they didn't just put them out every morning? As everyone's been sitting on hard wood loungers, he replied "it's not my job". Something so simple can just make a pool day more enjoyable. You can hire motorbikes from the hotel and arrange day trips too, all very simple. El Nido town is 100 pesos in a tuk tuk or a short walk. The beach is lovely, there's lovely restaurants and massage places a stones throw away, so all in all a very good stay and brilliant location. The other way is las cabanas beach were there's also shops, McDonald's ect so I'd say it's perfectly between all parts of el Nido we wanted to visit. And the sunsets behind the sea so you can watch it whilst on the pool, or walk a few meters and there's the lions sunset restaurant and bar which was amazing
