Nice, clean hotel in a good location. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The 6th floor patio area had a nice view of the city and university .

Don't judge at first glance - the building from outside is not too fancy, but in reality this is a very nice hotel with a pleasant size and extremely helpful kind staff. The location is prefect, you can reach the hotel by car and leave your car in the garage - as everything is in walking distance… more

Don't judge at first glance - the building from outside is not too fancy, but in reality this is a very nice hotel with a pleasant size and extremely helpful kind staff. The location is prefect, you can reach the hotel by car and leave your car in the garage - as everything is in walking distance. Hotel personnel is very helpful, the rooms are well equipped. Beds - that is critical for me - very very comfortable. Breakfast is also good with a nice panorama.

The staff at reception when we arrived were extremely engaging, so much so that they managed to sell us an upgrade to a ‘more comfortable, balcony room with coffee facilities’, for an extra €30! Absolutely do not do it!! We chose this hotel for a central location in Coimbra with easy parking facilities across the road. Reception is bright and welcoming. Breakfast/bar in 5th floor is small and had a cafe feel than a restaurant, maybe like a fast food counter. Insufficient space to lay out breakfast so rude guests just pushed through the queue. Ended up having a coffee in the bedroom before packing and leaving. The ‘special’ upgrade gave us: - a floor to ceiling window giving a nice view of the university on the hill (the streets closer by are very run down and not the nicest of views) - balcony was the length of the window, very slim and certainly not somewhere to sit and enjoy a coffee or the view. 2 chairs and a small table just about fit - room itself was clean although bedding/carpet close to window smelt a little damp (we did have rain during our stay) - just about enough space to walk around the bed, so certainly no good for people looking for a spacious room - coffee machine with 4 pods, 5 teabags, no milk or water in fridge - shower room and toilet very clean Some might say that the room sounds okay for €160 for a Saturday night / we thought it was ridiculously expensive for a 3*hotel!! Room 501 - the alleged upgrade room- is situated right next door to the bar/restaurant room. All guests using the facilities on the 5th floor have to walk past the few bedrooms to use the toilets! Lots of banging of doors, shouting, loud echoing voices did not make for a good restful sleep. Having been travelling the west coast for a while now, this was by far the worst experience! No point having comfortable beds if the soundproof is so poor! The rooftop directly above room 501 - nice viewing area but EVERY footstep and conversation echoed in the room!! Interesting that when we checked out, I informed the same guy who sold us the upgrade, of our poor experience. His demeanour changed from engaging to no eye contact, dismissive, no acknowledgement aside from asking me if I’d notified Booking.com last night or attended reception! Of course I didn’t, I was attempting to grab what little sleep I could! Also, other guests were clearly enjoying themselves 1 would they really have closed the bar and the rooftop so we could sleep! I think not! At the point of paying, I expressed disappointment - the hotel appear happy to mis-sell and take guests money but had little or no interest in acknowledging or taking accountability for such a poor stay. At the point I was about to present my card, the guy (not looking at me) told me he’d just charge me €130. The are does not warrant such prices and this is a 3* at best. A ridiculously expensive price for an extremely basic hotel! Recommend others look elsewhere or stop at Coimbra for a day not an overnight stay.

Whilst in a great location this hotel is very firmly in the 3 star category. Very overpriced for the quality of the accommodation. Rooms small and dated with poor quality fittings. The breakfast room has all the charm of a motorway service station and the food offering extremely poor quality. Thankfully only stayed one night. Perhaps at Euro 150 a night/couple it would be acceptable. Unfortunately we paid considerably more.
