“Will be back, for sure”

I arrived to Lisbon at midnight, hoping to find a nice hotel for the night, and I was crossing over Santa justa- best decision! The receptionist was the kindest! Made me feel at home, the room was with a beautiful view and clean and spacious. It was the best way to start my trip at Portugal.

My wife, two kids and myself just stayed here for 4 nights. I’m going to start with what I had issues with first: I wasn’t aware prior that the street the hotel is on is undriveable past noon, as they set up outdoor seating for restaurants. While it is not far at all, maybe 300 feet down, the streets are like smooth cobblestones so if you have a ton of luggage it may be difficult to maneuver. Our room, so we got a family room, main bedroom with a queen sized bed and a nice pull out of couch. The room itself it’s actually decent sized and nicely updated. The bathroom was much larger than I expected and we had three tiny balcony’s off both rooms and the bathroom. Here were the two huge main issues. We were on the 5th (top) floor and the roof is dormered. When I tell you that the ceiling was sloped, it wasn’t just sloped towards the side of the room, it started in the middle and was dramatic. Large wooden beams were interspersed every few feet. I was very aware of them and still hit my head 3 times, my wife did so once. Literally half the room has a severely slanted room. Secondly is the lack of shades. I know, we are in Europe, but the doors that lead out to the balconies are made of glass and they all have just a sheer linen shade on them. Which means when we were jet lagged and needed to go to bed on day 1 at 730pm it was completely bright in the room. Every morning as soon as it got light out, it was so bright etc. While the location is amazing, I did get a bit sick of coming out of the hotel and being immediately harassed by every single restaurant worker to come eat at their restaurant. It’s great to have so many options, but while they’re nice, they ask relentlessly and you are smack dab in the middle of it all. Then again that’s also a positive, as the location is amazing. We did however really enjoy some of the aspects of the hotel. As I mentioned it is very nicely updated and we found the staff to all be super helpful and very nice. For instance when we got there someone came up and brought us some welcome food and a small bottle of wine. They stocked the fridge with 4 complimentary bottles of water and a few soft drinks per day. They left chocolates for the kids, and later on dropped off a platter of meats and cheeses. My daughter got sick (not sure from what) and threw up in the middle of the night, got some on the bed. I went down to the reception desk and they immediately sent up someone to bring us all new bedding. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the air conditioning worked almost too well. Each room had a mini split, that would pump cold air and cool down the room immediately. The issue was no matter how high I turned UP the temp, it would still blast freezing cold air. So much so that the kids and wife were freezing. But I much preferred that to no AC. Honestly if the ceiling wasn’t so ridiculously sloped and they had better shades then this place would be amazing. I assume if you stay on a lower floor the roof isn’t an issue.

“Location and staff 5 stars”

Location is perfect. Full of families. Room was perfect except it had a window looking to an aisle full of air conditioners. We had no problems at all. Safety is great and you can actually walk everywhere.
