My Wonderful Experience at the Meliá Braga Hotel I had an extraordinary stay at the Meliá Braga Hotel, and I’m excited to share why it stood out to me in every possible way. Exceptional People and Hospitality The staff were uniformly warm, attentive, and genuinely helpful. Special mention goes to Christina, the Experience Manager, whose dedication and proactive approach made a huge difference. Christina’s responsiveness and anticipation of needs ensured my stay was smooth and enjoyable. Her thoughtful recommendations and willingness to go the extra mile truly set the tone for the trip. Impeccable Service, Even When Fully Booked The hotel was fully booked, yet they managed to upgrade my room at a discounted rate for my two-night stay. This gesture was especially meaningful as I served as the Master of Ceremonies for a wedding. The upgrade not only enhanced comfort but also signaled a level of care and appreciation for guests that is rare to find. A Perfect Setting for a Wedding Celebration The hospitality extended to the broader hotel clientele profoundly aided me in delivering a fantastic MC performance for the wedding reception. Working with my business partner Liam and his wife, I felt supported by a team that understood the importance of such a momentous occasion. The atmosphere, service, and accommodations contributed to a seamless and memorable event. Recommendation I would recommend the Meliá Braga Hotel to anyone visiting Portugal. “Decent hotel for business and leisure”

Breakfast and gym were definitely the highlights - the structure of the room was somehow strange - bathroom too big and sleeping room too small - separated by a curtain (not exactly as per expectation) - however not a big issue neither

The spa staff were particularly attentive and professional throughout our visit. Staff Service The hotel staff consistently went above and beyond to ensure a comfortable stay. Where language wasn't a barrier, communication was seamless and staff members were genuinely helpful with all requests. Special mention goes to the bartender, who graciously accommodated our request to open our own bottles of wine - a thoughtful gesture that exemplified the hotel's flexible, guest-focused approach. Prime Location and Accessibility The hotel's location is simply outstanding. Perfectly positioned for both convenience and exploration, it offers: Transportation Public transport: Excellent bus connections right at your doorstep. Ride services: Abundant Uber and Bolt availability throughout the day. Parking: On-site parking available for guests with rental cars and free in outside space. Walkability: Easily accessible on foot to most local attractions. Dining and Entertainment Being situated near the university creates a vibrant dining scene within easy walking distance. The abundance of restaurants, cafes, and eateries means you'll never run out of excellent dining options, from casual student-friendly spots to more upscale establishments. Overall Experience This hotel strikes the perfect balance between quality facilities, attentive service, and an unbeatable location. The combination of excellent spa amenities, helpful staff, and prime positioning makes it an ideal choice for both business and leisure travelers. Hotel Review - Areas for Improvement Service Quality The service experience was inconsistent, with several staff members displaying unprofessional attitudes that detracted from the overall stay. A more customer-focused approach from all team members would significantly enhance the guest experience. Dining Experience Restaurant Pricing and Value The restaurant pricing appears excessive relative to the quality and variety offered. Despite being advertised as a buffet, the selection was disappointingly limited, failing to justify the premium charges. Beverage Policy A significant concern is the hotel's policy regarding table water during meals. Guests are not informed in advance that complimentary water is not provided, resulting in unexpected charges for bottled water at inflated prices. This lack of transparency regarding meal inclusions creates an unpleasant surprise for diners. The bar prices are notably steep, with cocktails priced at €16 per glass, which exceeds typical market rates for the region. Housekeeping Issues Important warning for guests: Exercise caution when placing personal belongings near bathrobes. Items left in proximity to linens risk being inadvertently collected during housekeeping and sent to external laundry services, potentially resulting in permanent loss of personal effects. Room Amenities The provision of basic in-room refreshments falls short of industry standards. Essential items such as complimentary water and coffee are either unavailable or insufficient, creating inconvenience for guests who expect these standard amenities. Use of Spa If staying in a standard room, there are extra charges for using the Spa and gym at 11 euros daily. Covered parking This comes at a charge. Therefore advisable to park in the plenty free spaces which are in abundance. Practical Recommendation I strongly advise future guests to purchase necessities, particularly bottled water, from local supermarkets once settled post arrival. This proactive approach will help avoid the hotel's inflated prices and ensure adequate supplies throughout your stay. Overall Assessment While the hotel has potential, these service and policy issues significantly impact the guest experience and value proposition. Greater transparency regarding charges and improved staff training would go a long way toward addressing these concerns.

There are 2 Melia hotels in Braga, so definitely make sure you choose the right one! The hotel is located by a busy road but the interior is beautiful and well populated by wedding guests. There's a wide choice of food for breakfast. The only downside is requesting a teapot with hot water to infuse tea was met with resistance as the water urn was not always hot. The room facilities were 10 out of 10, as a tall person I appreciated the large bath. Also, bonus points for off setting carbon footprint by way of solar panels and light tunnels. I didn't use the spa or the pools (inside or outside). Bom Jesus is only a short taxi ride away and central Braga is a 35 min walk away via the river conduit. Due to the location hiring a car or using Uber to get around might be more useful.
