This September me and my family took a week long trip to Porto portugal.we stayed in the hf ipanema park porto portugal what was a 5 star hotel in the modern part/ outskirts of Porto that was a bus ride in to the heart of porto. when I arrive at the hotel the first thing I notice is how helpful and polite the staff were.One of main things your notice is that the hotel is very clean from the public areas to your room.There is lovely bar at the hotel at very comfy chairs and sofas where you can enjoy a drink and some food from that bar menu also with friendly and hardworking staff. It's also a great place to have a drink and relax. We book bed and breakfast that severd from 7am to 10.30am. the breakfast is served as a buffet with great food from continental breakfastruitcooked breakfastcereal and so much more. Also with facilities like a gym a rooftop pool and an indoor pool with jacuzzi.i would highly recommend a visit to this hotel. I once again would like to thank the staff for the hard work that made my stay so enjoyable.

“Helpful staff but the hotel is more like a 3-4* standard and food really lets it down”

I’m really not sure how this qualifies as 5* to be honest. The staff are all lovely and very helpful including the door men when you arrive. I’m really not sure how this qualifies as 5* to be honest. The staff are all lovely and very helpful including the door men when you arrive. That’s pretty much where the 5* experience ends… The rooms are pleasant enough, clean and comfortable although the cheap laminate fake wooden floors feel far from 5* and the room feel in general whilst modern and comfortable is not what I would expect for a 5* place. The rooms are not very sound proofed, you can hear a lot from the corridor and my colleague could hear every word from her neighbouring room. The bar is pleasant, the cocktails are pretty decent and wine selection is ok, again the staff are what help bring the standard up. The food really lets things down on all fronts. It’s mediocre at best and definitely far from 5*. We ate the bar food the first two nights as had a lot of work to get through and struggled to eat well. The chicken burger was ok but pretty greasy, the omelet was fine but nothing special, the chips/ fries taste and look like frozen chips and were cold, the ham and cheese toasty had to be returned as was cold and stale. The replacement was at least freshly made but again was pretty mediocre and had barely seen the grill. Breakfast is fine but again not what I would expect from a 5* place, the scrambled eggs were hard and rubbery, yoghurt not great, boiled eggs cold and grey etc etc The place seems to be generally populated with guests from coach tours I would say this place is more what you would expect for a 3-4* hotel but the helpfulness of the staff helped bring my score up. And I would eat out The pools don’t open until 9am either which is pretty late. This was the main reason we booked here so we could get a swim in ahead of long work days but we never managed to swim due to the opening hours

We chose this hotel because of the location, out of the city (an hour walk to Porto) and the excellent local amenities. Shame about the building site next door, which our room overlooked. We found the staff to be unwelcoming, unhelpful and quite rude at times. The breakfast was basic, having to pay extra for items which should be included at a 5* hotel, I have had much better breakfasts and 4* hotels. The room was clean and comfortable, but lacking the extras you expect in a 5* hotel, no coffee machine, horrible instant sachets, mini bar not included, not enough hooks in the bathroom for towels, and glass doors offering little privacy. No balcony. The outdoor rooftop pool was small, cold, overcrowded, noisy and nowhere comfortable to lounge, beans bags were awful. The small indoor downstairs pool and jacuzzi was lovely, but again lacking seating and places to put your things. The bar and restaurant were overpriced for the area, there are some fantastic local, authentic places to get food and drink within a few minutes walk of the hotel. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel, it merely served its purpose as somewhere to sleep, with a disappointing breakfast.
