We had a lovely four-night stay at Tivoli Porto as a family of seven adults, staying across four rooms. We had upgraded to balcony rooms with city views and would definitely recommend doing so. The views were beautiful and made a noticeable difference to our stay. The hotel itself is lovely, with stylishly decorated rooms that were a good size. We received a very warm welcome on arrival, with friendly staff and a glass of port, a lovely introduction to Porto. The location was perfect for us. We particularly enjoyed staying in the Gaia area, with a great selection of restaurants, port houses and cafés all within easy walking distance. The hotel also has a shortcut exit, which made it much easier to get in and out of the grounds without navigating the whole property. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel is spread across multiple floors due to its location on a steep hill. As a result, getting around the hotel can take a little time, and on some journeys you need to use multiple lifts. It wasn’t a major issue for us, but it is worth knowing in advance. We chose this hotel specifically because of the outdoor pool and bars, as we wanted somewhere where we could relax and decompress together as a group. The outdoor pool is quite small, but perfectly adequate for a dip, and there are lovely areas around it for relaxing. Sunbeds were limited during the busier afternoon periods, so it was worth getting down earlier. The poolside happy hour was a particularly nice touch, with free port cocktails for an hour. The Sky Bar is also definitely worth visiting for the views and atmosphere. Unfortunately, we didn’t get a chance to visit the Jazz Bar. We also didn’t eat at the hotel, so can’t comment on the restaurants or breakfast. Our biggest disappointment was the spa and indoor pool booking system. We tried to book these facilities at the beginning of our stay but were told they were fully booked. We were eventually able to book for two people, despite requesting for a group of three, and on both occasions there was either nobody else or only one other person using the facilities. We completely understand the hotel wanting to avoid overcrowding, but given how empty the facilities were, the restrictions felt unnecessarily strict. On our final day, we were also unable to use the spa toilets to get changed and instead had to use the lobby toilets while other guests were arriving. For a hotel of this standard, it felt like a shame that there wasn’t somewhere more appropriate for guests to change before leaving. Despite these few frustrations, we really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful, the location is excellent, the pool and bars provided exactly the relaxing atmosphere we were looking for, and the balcony/ garden rooms with city views were a definite highlight. Overall, we would happily recommend Tivoli and would stay again when visiting Porto.

Gorgeous spot and grounds for the hotel. Service was great along with the rooms. Very quiet hotel and service was excellent.

Wonderful hotel, fantastic views, unique art decor around the property which we enjoyed. It has a great location, easy walk down through the hotel grounds to the riverside areas below. Always helpful and responsive to any questions and assistance with external bookings, aswell as within the hotel.… more
