This is well worth the long read…..this vacation was over 4 years in the making and it did not disappoint!!! We enjoyed every second and will treasure every memory celebrating our 20th year wedding anniversary at the Bel Jou. We highly recommend this hotel and plan to return. Enjoy the scenic drive through lush green foliage and windy roads from the airport and take it all in because the Bel Jou is a tropical paradise. Situated on top of a hill with beautiful views of Castries on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other side, your well-deserved vacation awaits. Upon arrival at the Bel Jou you will be welcomed with warm, inviting smiles, a cold cloth and a very strong delicious rum punch. Dana, the Guest Services Manager, is an absolute gem. You will feel at ease and know that you are in great hands. Dana, not only are you smart and beautiful, you are a great leader to your team. You are a shining star!!! I would like to thank all the ladies and gentlemen who welcome, greet and offer assistance if/when needed at reception. A big thank you to Kidada J. for answering all my questions prior to our arrival. There are so many great things to say about the people of St. Lucia and the excellent, attentive staff at the Bel Jou. A BIG thank you to the following staff… Mikey who carried our luggage as well as the other young man whose name I did not get who carried our luggage when we had to check out. Ras Quincy, you are a beautiful soul. You have a beautiful smile and always ensure that the guests are content and that all is good. You will find this beautiful Rasta beside the entertainment board. Quincy will provide you with your beach towels. When Quincy has a day off, Nicholas will take good care of you too. Jeanhim, thank you for the excellent service you provided to us the night we celebrated our anniversary at Caribbean night. You were amazing!!! To the following wait staff and bar tenders: Princess you are a treasure. Such a pleasure to finally meet you after reading so many wonderful things about you. Not only is Princess an excellent waitress she can dance!!!! Joule (she can dance and sing too), Bella, Shaniah, Mac, Janet, Andrea and Sam, thanks for the great service. Thank you to all the other wait staff whose names I did not get. Jahfree in Entertainment will keep you on your toes. From walks on the beach, to table tennis, to water aerobics, he will certainly keep you entertained. I would also like to acknowledge all the staff from the grounds keepers for maintaining the beautiful grounds, to the behind the scenes staff, who wash, prep food, cook, clean, do laundry and do it all over again. I could feel and see your smiles. THANK YOU. The hotel is immaculately clean. We stayed in Room 309 which overlooked the bigger pool, part of the hotel, the grounds and the Caribbean Sea. The room is spacious, the bed was very comfortable; there is ample storage, the bathroom is stocked with toiletries and ample towels. Our room attendant was Delthia and on her day off it was Dilmar. These ladies did an amazing job cleaning our room, making the bed and replenishing the toiletries. Thank you both; it was an absolute pleasure meeting you both and getting to know you both. God willing, we hope to see you again. The buffet at the Verandah offers a variety of delicious food for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will always find something to want you going back for more and more. Lulu’s Cabana also offers delicious and yummy food. Although we did not eat at the al a carte restaurant, Hummingbird, we heard the food was also very good. You can also enjoy a sweet treat at the coffee shop. The cocktails and mocktails -- Sea Breeze, Mudslide, Tequila Sunrise, Bob Marley, Piton will leave you craving for more. You will feel a sense of tranquility surrounded by the beauty of the well-kept and manicured grounds. The larger pool is an oasis of peace and stillness. The self-serve bar stocked with rum punch, wine, beer, liquor, pop, juice and water is very convenient. Thank you Ras Sherman for the delicious coconuts; I definitely recommend you have a coconut and the coconut jelly; this is a great way to start your day. The shuttle to Vigie Beach is a very short ride. The beach is so peaceful and beautiful. The different colours of the blue sea are so captivating. Bel Jou has a section of the beach with beach chairs mostly under the big palm trees so it is shaded. There are a few places to grab a bite, a refreshment or a snack. The shuttle also goes to the market where you can purchase some really beautiful souvenirs. Bel Jou is the perfect mix of tranquility and entertainment. The activity/entertainment board provides all the info you need for the upcoming day. You can start with yoga, Pilates, a walk on the beach, water aerobics, table tennis, cooking class. Or you can just sit by the pool and take it all in. Time just stands still. The nightly entertainment was great. We thoroughly enjoyed the Monday night Manager’s Cocktail Party. Dean La Force, the General Manager, is very hands on and leads and mentors a great team. I was in awe when I saw Dean collect plates and glasses from a table. This was the first for me to see. A great team is built with a great leader and Dean it shows. Tuesday night is Casino night and the monies made go to a local school for children with disabilities. This was an amazing evening for such a great cause. Even if you do not gamble, you can still donate. Afterwards, there is an auction to win some fabulous prizes. Thursday night is Caribbean night and Bel Jou goes all out!!!! The outdoor barbecue was absolutely delicious!!! The steel pan was amazing and the fire dancers were on FIRE!!! Friday night is Karaoke so be prepared for an evening of fun and entertainment provided by some of the staff who love to sing. I so loved the staff interacting with the guests by singing and dancing. Saturday night is disco night so get your party shoes on!! You can always drink, dance and party the night away on the roof top patio. I would definitely recommend a massage from Lala at the Spa. Spoil yourself and make an appointment. I would definitely recommend going on an excursion. We saw the Pitons, we went to the Sulphur Springs, the waterfall, the town of Soufrière and to Marigot Bay. Some of the guests did the catamaran excursion and the chocolate and rum distillery excursion and they raved about them. Just to name a few of the friends we met during our vacay at the Bel Jou…Kim and Sabrina, Paul and Carina from the UK, Dave and Cheryl, Guyelle and Mike, Robert and Patti, Pat and Paul, Wendy and Al, Toula and Roger, Sofia and Wayne, Allen and Carol from the UK, Brian, Adrian from Trinidad, Newman and Olivia from St. Lucia who were on a staycation (I hope I spelt and got the names correct).
