Beautiful colonial-style building. Born to a British father and a Samoan mother, Aggie Grey opened the hotel in 1933 on Beach Road in Apia. What started as a simple club and gathering place quickly became the most famous hotel in all the Pacific. Many notable actors stayed at the hotel, including Marlon Brando. It was also involved in the production and housing of the crew of the American film Return to Paradise (1953), starring Gary Cooper. Some say Aggie herself inspired the character of Bloody Mary in the musical South Pacific, though that’s debated. Good things: - super friendly staff and also they were very attentive and helped booking rental cars, taxis, fiafia nights etc. - I want to thank the hotel for upgrading me to a nice bungalow as part of the Bonvoy Elite membership. The bungalow was spacious and comfortable - The gym was decent and had all the necessary equipment - Good location in Apia, you can walk pretty much everywhere in the town. Also if you want to explore the rest of the island it is a good place to stay. The island is not too big so you can drive anywhere in about 1h max. Perfect base for day trips - Good restaurants nearby: I recommend Paddles and Bistro Tatau. - Car rental: there is a car rental company in the hotel itself and prices are good. If you’re Bonvoy Elite you get 10% off. Things than can improve: - breakfast: it is served in an open air area (no ac) so it can be a bit humid at times. Some food like the eggs, the bread or the teas could improve. However, all food was very clean and fresh, and I had no stomach issues at all. - Ac in the room: at times it felt a bit humid inside the bungalow despite the AC working well. - TVs: despite being Smart TVs they are not the easiest to connect to your phone - Insects: you are in the middle of an island in the pacific and with the local fauna and humidity there will naturally be some insects around. I saw no mosquitoes, however I saw a couple of cockroaches. The hotel is very clean though - Fiafia night: when I went there was only 1 fiafia night a week (on Thursday) so I didn’t get to see it. Would be great if they did it 2/3 times a week instead of 1. This hotel has a 8.2 in the Llueca Hotel Ranking.

What a wonderful place. The details in the construction to keep it Samoan are fantastic. The staff greats everyone with welcoming smiles and a big Talofa lava!! What a wonderful place. The details in the construction to keep it Samoan are fantastic. The staff greats everyone with welcoming smiles and a big Talofa lava!! You all made our stay relaxing and fun. I would like to call out our housekeeping attendant Ruth. Ruth and her team made our bungalow sparkle, her detailed attention was a blessing, thank you. The management is doing a great job training the staff in making all visitors feel welcomed. Thank you for making my wife's birthday celebration such a fantastic experience. We look forward to seeing you all soon.

“Amazing food and wonderful staff”

The food here is top notch and the staff go to great lengths to meet your needs and provide excellent service; the tuna steak and tuna poke bowl were hands down the two best tuna dishes I've ever eaten. The grilled snapper and oka were also phenomenal, will keep coming back for sure!

Had a wonderful 2 weeks. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Toetu is a very lovely and wonderful host. He always took special care of us. Had a wonderful 2 weeks. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. Toetu is a very lovely and wonderful host. He always took special care of us. The hotel was clean and tidy, with staff keeping a high standard. We had an ocean view room and it was tidy and spacious. I was impressed with the outside area being kept nice and tidy and clean. We did a lot of walking as well as easy access to taxi services. We thought the overall price was good value. Atmosphere was friendly and plenty of personal space. The staff would be the friendliest that I have encountered on my travels. Our room looked out onto the main road, so we did experience some noise, however it was not too bad. In house self laundry would have been nice as the hotel service was quite expensive. There are plenty of laundromats in the area to do your own at and prices are very good. The pools were lovely and we ate at the restaurant regularly as our breakfast was included. A great range of food to select from, both hot and cold. The location was within walking distance to Apia city, so could walk to main area in about 10 minutes. There is a wonderful restaurant a couple of minutes walk called Paddles (Italian owned) has the most amazing food and service. A must go to when in Apia. Need to make a reservation as very popular. Another great place is Bella’s Pizzeria. The Bella special pizza is very very good and the pasta dishes also. Overall comfort 5 out of 5.
