Location of this hotel is excellent. Very central to the beautiful town. Beware though- the sign for the hotel is very small and when we’re trying to find if on arrival late on the evening we missed it several times! The hotel is very old and oozes historical atmosphere. Our room was large, with a living room area as well as bedroom and bathroom. The shower was in need of updating as had mildew and mould on but it worked well. The only downside to this hotel was the breakfast. The selection of food was very limited and not enough for the number of guests staying there. The second morning we were there we came down for 8am when service started and the jars of cereal and dried fruit had not been replenished- there was one lonely prune in one jar! The cold meats and fruit juice were barely enough for four people and quickly disappeared. Staff did not appear to replenish these regularly meaning that choice was limited of you were not one of the first guests there.

I rarely write reviews with a heavy heart, but our stay at Antiq Palace left me feeling genuinely sad. Given the hotel’s rich heritage and the grand expectations set by its official website, we were eagerly anticipating a refined historic stay in the heart of Ljubljana. Unfortunately, the actual experience fell drastically short of what is advertised. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt strangely desolate—almost as if we were the only guests staying in the entire property. What could have felt like an exclusive, intimate retreat instead felt eerily neglected due to the sheer lack of maintenance. It is heartbreaking to see a historic landmark of this caliber in such a state. The lack of upkeep throughout the common areas is glaring: • Floors & Walls: Carpets throughout the corridors are visibly stained and dirty, walls and ceilings carry noticeable marks and stains, and the flooring appears severely worn. • The Courtyard: What should be an enchanting central feature felt more like an overgrown jungle, choked with weeds, dried-out dead plants, and outdoor furniture in severe disrepair. The issues extended directly into our room: • Cleanliness Details: We noticed stray hair wrapped around the exposed air conditioning cables, along with dirt accumulated in several overlooked corners and stained surfaces on both the walls and ceiling. • Furniture & Bathroom: The furniture felt tired and neglected. Worse, the bathroom suffered from a persistent bad odor and heavy moisture/humidity issues. To be completely fair and detail-oriented, the bed linens were clean, fresh, and properly kept, which was the single saving grace of the room. I am leaving this review not out of malice, but out of genuine concern and a strong hope that management takes immediate action. Antiq Palace possesses incredible history and potential, but it urgently requires deep cleaning, structural maintenance, and proper management to restore it to the standard its guests pay for—and that its history deserves.

hotel is in a quiet but central location. Breakfast was quite nice, but didn't start until 8.00. The room had the potential to be really lovely- very spacious, and clearly part of an historic building. But on arrival there were no towels in the room, the safe didn't work, there were two bulbs missing from the overhead lights, and the bed was really pretty uncomfortable. The shower was hot and plentiful hot water- though there was a shampoo bottle from a previous occupant perched on the top of the shower screen. It was very hot, and the aircon unit barely worked: the window needed to be wide open for it to vent to the outdoors. The additional fans just moved the warm air around the room. I wish I had paid more attention to a previous guest remark about the flashing light. I had assumed it was just a small ceiling unit for carbon monoxide monitoring. Wrong: it was sone rather crazy blue light which flashed every six or seven minutes and really disturbed sleep. I tried to locate it, thought it was the phone, which I wrapped in towels, to no avail. it reflected off the mirror too, which made it even worse. Sorry, all these niggles made for a less than restful stay. They could easily be fixed- along with a very grubby carpet which does not make for a great welcome.
