It's as if Bob Ross painted the hotel and it's surroundings. 2 restaurants, 2 bars, private pool, private lakeside beach. Rich historic, luxurious hotel that is like a living museum, I wish I could have visited it when it was new. The furnishings may be old, but the quality shines through and is better than modern furniture. The carpets and flooring cushion your feet in a way that's hard to described with words. Comfort. Luxury. Quality. Historic. Will definitely visit again. Will seriously buy their old furniture when they renovate. This is not a joke. As far as I am concerned this is 1 of 2 hotels I could visit for the rest of my life. Words cannot do this place justice. Location: This location in lake Bled has the best lake view in the world; in the day it is blue and very clear, in the night it seems to glow faintly turquoise, there are cool breezes coming from over the water as if to fan you in the summer. There's plenty of local wildlife: house martins, warblers, ducks and swans, the hotel is so welcoming that house martins and warblers are nesting nearby and living the bushes on the property. The stays here are quiet, very little noise pollution, and plenty of sounds of nature when you step outside. It is incredible to hear bird songs and Church bells while sitting on the balcony overlooking the lake. Hotel: The cleanliness is the best I have seen, the floors and furniture shine with how clean they are. The toilets, shower rooms, spa, bars & restaurants are all immaculate, the whole hotel is. The stay at the hotel is very good value, this is a 5 star hotel priced at around a 4 star hotel in 1 of the best locations in the world. The floors are mostly marble and stone on the lower floors and are always gleaming, the carpets are so luxurious and comfortable to walk on, the wooden flooring is always polished, and you can feel the quality as you walk upon it. All of the furniture extremely comfortable and luxurious. Every room is picturesque, the multiple lounges are so homely, have lake views and are like a living museum, and the Grand Hotel Toplice has a rich history which will you will find out about when you go. Every little piece of furniture is older than me and I can still see and feel the quality, I wish my furniture would be this comfortable and high quality when it was new. The only comparison close to this is in old historic libraries with mahogany furniture that is so sturdy and yet so ergonomic, the chairs are so hard and sturdy, and the cushions are so fluffy you can sit for hours. I wish I could buy some of their furniture with their THG logo on it when they finish renovating the hotel, I don't care if they are 20, 30 or 90 years old, this level of quality is vanishingly rare in furniture now. The outside of the hotel is like looking at a painting, and the views look like they were painted by Bob Ross, happy little trees right near the like with fluffy clouds in the air just behind Bled castle on the hill. This hotel gives me the same sense of wonder as the Grand Budapest hotel movie. This hotel should have it's own movie The Grand Hotel Toplice, The staff: (I will leave out surnames for privacy) Best in the world, everyone is so caring, friendly and attentive to detail, when speaking with them, they make you feel like you are the only other person in the room. They will help with with anything if asked, and nothing is too much or too little for them to do. Of the staff I encountered during my stay, they were all at least 11/10. There are too many staff to mention all of them, so I will mention a few of them from the areas I encountered during my stay: Anja at the reception made me feel welcome immediately, impeccable manners and attention to detail, she went out of her to way to make me feel welcome and helped me with local recommendations. She helped my mum when I was was out which I am very grateful for. Najlepša hvala za vso vašo pomoč Anja. Dejan, Dejan and Dejan at the reception. All of the Dejans were always welcoming a happy to see you, always asking how your day was and offering suggestions for things to do in Slovenia. Dejan would drop everything to help you immedietely without even being asked. I asked Dejan (in broken Slovenian) to take extra special care of my mum when I went out for the day, and I know that he did. Najlepša hvala. When I went to reception, I knew I would be taken care of whichever Dejan was there. Marko, Marko and Marko (apparently everyone is called Dejan or Marko) Marko was often at breakfast and was our waiter for most days, very warmhearted and made you feel at home, always offering to help. knew the right time to approach. He suggested a local yogurt, which was very tasty and gave my mum his mother's recipe. He helped me build my Slovenian land Serbian language skills. Marko who was between the bar and the restaurant when I stayed was, there was always a happy aura around him, very straight forward. He would make suggestions when we were unsure, and he would help me with my Slovenian too. Marko at the bar was always attentive to detail and would hear me coming, very jovial and jokey, always a joy to be around and served drinks promptly an was very approachable. He memorised my drinks order, which I appreciate, as that shows the level of care. I does not matter which Marko would be there, every Marko would make me feel so welcome and make ever bar or restaurant visit magical. Artem was always a joy to be around, he also spoke Ukrainian and Russian, which made it easier for me, as I can speak more Russian than Slovenian. He gave excellent wine suggestions at dinner, and courses from the menu. Svetlana Has always been so welcoming and friendly, and would always check if you needed or wanted anything. She would make what you want happen, she would tell us about the local wildlife, and also enjoyed the birds when we were sitting outside. If a hotel manager sees this; please take each member of staff aside mentioned in this review; thank them personally and make them sure you know how wonderful they are. The food: Breakfast - I had half board, the breakfast was a buffet with fresh pastries, fresh local fruit, vegetables, honey and honeycomb. There's a wide variety of hot, cold and dried meats, the bacon is very good; the only hotel I have stayed in that can actually cook bacon (crispy). They have kefir, natural yoghurt, kislo mleko and other fresh dairy products on offer. If that isn't enough there is an à la carte menu with egg based dishes made to order and they are amazingly good. The drinks on offer, are local water - still and fizzy; local fruit juices, a variety of milk and yoghurt drinks, tea and coffee self serve or made to order, and a welcome wine and smoothie at the entrance. Lunch - The lunches served in the Jezero lounge area with views right by the lake and the local birds are so nice and friendly they fly right over to you and sing you a little song. On the menu are salads (enormous portions), sandwiches, meat, fish and vegetarian dishes which change every so often. The wines are locally sourced and they have fresh local fruit juices too When we went there Robert was serving us and he was so nice and treated you like a family friend, helpful and attentive to detail; he knew the exact right time when we wanted to order. Dinner - The dinners are amazing in the Michelin starred Restaurant Julijana there are a choice of 4 course, 6 course or 8 course meals, These change too regularly to mention. The chef can do the impossible when cooking, the food is so good it's almost fictional. Each course tastes better and looks better than the last, every ingredient on the plate is positioned perfectly to create a beautifully surreal meal, the desert was by far the best course which is really hard when the food before it was 11/10. The desert have a chocolate mousse shaped and coloured like a giant raspberry. I want to go again and have just 8 courses of desert. Kisin was an incredible waiter, who made the whole experience even better, he made excellent recommendations and described every dish like a perfect story. The dinner in the Grand Restaurant (included in half board) has 4 courses which seem to change daily; the first course is a cold starter ( at least 3 to choose from), the second course is coup (at least 3 to choose from), the hot mains (at least 5 to choose from), and the deserts (at least 3 to choose from). These are all exceptional, I tried to have everything, but the menu changes daily. I have had sea bass, roast - kangaroo, beef, lamb, venison, veal, all of which I want to have again. The soups are sized like a bucket, and are incredibly tasty, no fresh bred required; I have tried their fish soup, cauliflower soup, carrot and ginger, and asparagus soup. The deserts are all so moreish the sundaes are amazing - the flavoured ice creams actually taste like the ingredient their made of, the raspberry ice cream is amazing. Drawbacks/complaints: I have seen some people complain about this place, Maybe they were drunk or blind. - The staff are too warm & gracious The food it too tasty The local produce is too fresh The carpets and flooring are too luxurious The furniture is too high quality and ergonomic that it doesn’t break every 20-30 years The seating is too comfortable The water is too clean and too refreshing The water pressure is too good The building's history is too rich The hotel is too clean The local birds are TOO friendly The lake is too clean The views of nature are too beautiful The beds are too comfortable My steak is too juicy, my lobster is too flavourful My own complaints: I could not stay forever My own suggestions: USB plug sockets Slightly more modern air conditioning Preserve everything as much as possible Do not change what isn't broken Use the original manufacturers if anything needs to be replaced I would buy any furniture that is replaced. They do not build hotels like this anymore. This is infinitely better than the style of modern corporate hotels, which I do not like. Cherish this place when you visit; it is a historic masterpiece. Lokacija: Ta lokacija ob jezeru Bled ponuja najboljši razgled na jezero na svetu; Podnevi je modro in zelo jasno, ponoči se zdi, da rahlo žari turkizno, poleti piha hladen vetrič čez vodo, kot da bi te hladil. V hotelu je veliko lokalne divjadi: lastne lastovke, penice, race in labode, hotel je tako gostoljuben, da hišne lastinke in penice gnezdijo v bližini in živijo v grmovju na posestvu. Hotel: Čistoča je najboljša, kar sem jih videl, tla in pohištvo se bleščijo zaradi čistosti. Stranišča, tuši, spa, bari in restavracije so brezhibni, celoten hotel je brezhiben. Bivanje v hotelu je zelo ugodno, to je petzvezdični hotel s ceno približno 4-zvezdičnega hotela na eni najboljših lokacij na svetu. Tla v spodnjih nadstropjih so večinoma iz marmorja in kamna ter vedno sijoča, preproge so tako razkošne in udobne za hojo, lesena tla so vedno polirana, kakovost pa se čuti med hojo. Vse pohištvo je izjemno udobno in razkošno. Vsaka soba je slikovita, številni saloni so tako domači, imajo razgled na jezero in so kot živi muzej, Grand Hotel Toplice pa ima bogato zgodovino, o kateri boste izvedeli ob obisku. Vsak kos pohištva je starejši od mene in še vedno vidim in čutim kakovost, želel bi si, da bi bilo moje pohištvo tako udobno in kakovostno, ko je bilo novo. Edina podobna primerjava je v starih zgodovinskih knjižnicah z mahagonijevim pohištvom, ki je tako trdno in hkrati ergonomsko – stoli so tako trdi in trdni, blazine pa tako puhaste, da lahko sediš ure in ure. Želim si, da bi lahko kupil njihovo pohištvo z njihovim logotipom THG, ko končajo prenovo hotela, ne glede na to, ali so stari 20, 30 ali 90 let, takšna kakovost je zdaj med pohištvom izjemno redka. Artem je bil vedno veselje v družbi, govoril je tudi ukrajinsko in rusko, kar mi je olajšalo delo, saj govorim več rusko kot slovensko. Ob večerji je dajal odlične predloge za vina in hode iz menija. Svetlana je bila vedno zelo prijazna in prijazna ter je vedno preverila, ali kaj potrebuješ ali želiš. Our stay at the Toplice was great. The location was excellent and near many great restaurants. We had a lot of fun going out on tbe rowboat and walking around tbe beautiful lake bled. Our rooms were very clean and pretty with great views of the lake. The staff were very kind and helpful. We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to see lake bled and wants to stay close to the lake.
