Amazing three nights here- staff, food and service are incredible! Could not recommend this enough. The lodges are beautiful. Gugu was our ranger and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. We saw all the animals up super close. Would absolutely recommend to anyone. Bring layers and binoculars for the safari drives. The drive here is quite bumpy on a dirt track- either get a transfer or make sure you have a 4x4 (drive in the light, not the dark).

An absolute gem of a place, the lodge is set up perfectly, the food, service and accommodation was beyond expectations. The amount of guests is small so it is really personable. The owners (Dr Kim) story is remarkable and it really is one of someone who has changed the world for the better. Our ranger Shaun was one of the most knowledgable people I have met and our conversations around other subjects such as SA history really Made the trip amazing. “Heaven on earth is...”

...right here! We had a wonderful time here, far away from the noise of the big city. The lodge is located far out, about 120 km north of Geberha and north of Addo Park. A vehicle with adequate ground clearance should be chosen for the journey – the last 50 km are on a gravel road. At reception, we were warmly welcomed with a drink and given instructions on the most important things before our luggage was transferred to a ‘game viewer’ and we were driven the last few kilometres to the lodge. Our car remained under guard at reception. When we arrived at the lodge, we felt transported back to the time of Karen Blixen, with old-fashioned service awaiting us, but on equal terms. The main buildings are furnished in old English style, while the small cottages themselves are in the African style of a roundhouse, thatched and containing every conceivable luxury. Terrace with a view of nature, bathroom with shower and bathtub – also with a view of nature, air conditioning and a magnificent view all around. We went on a game drive in the morning and evening with a very experienced ranger, Tim, who told us interesting things about all the animals. Every evening, the kitchen conjured up a 4-course meal of outstanding quality. The staff are extremely attentive and courteous. Most drinks were included in the service, as were all meals. Sitting on the terrace in the evening with a cool gin and tonic, watching the animals at the waterhole – priceless. Such exclusivity and luxury naturally come at a price. Nevertheless, we think it was worth every single penny! When we had to leave again – with tears in our eyes – we swore we would come back. So if you like South Africa, have some time and ‘three euros fifty’ to spare, that would be our recommendation!
