Our son and his family have moved to Ulsan about a year ago for work in the shipping industry and this was our first visit. His work colleague recommended this hotel and helped us book it. The hotel was spacious and clean, the room was comfortable, the room amenities included toothbrushes and bathrobes as well as the other usual toiletries. The staff were very professional and pleasant and spoke English well. The buffet breakfast was diverse and plentiful. The food included traditional western breakfast foods (eggs, cereal, toast and pastries, sausages, fruit, etc.) and Asian offerings such as noodles, dumplings, fried rice, soup, and a variety of salads, cold cuts and cheeses as well as meat and fish dishes). Milk, juices, coffee and tea were also offered. The food was tasty and plentiful, and ended up being our primary meal for the day because we weren't very hungry for the rest of the day after indulging in the breakfast. There is a kids activity room in the hotel that we didn't use, but that looked really fun. The gym was one of the best, and well equipped hotel gyms we have ever seen and experienced. The pool looked great, but there is an extra charge to use it and we didn't have time. The tavern overlooks a lovely garden and waterfall. Parking was very convenient. The tavern offers a nice cocktail and beer menu, but when we tried to order a martini, we were told that we could only select from the menu and that no other options were available. Not a big deal, but rather surprising. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is right across the street from the main entrance to the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard, and also across the street from the large Hyundai Department store. All those locations were walkable, as was the local market street, the nearby hospital, and many of the residential high rises. We didn't walk to the beach, but we could have. We were visiting family with a 2 year old so we didn't go to restaurants while we were there. Of note, the location of this hotel is actually Dong-gu, which is the equivalent of a large American suburban town to Ulsan. It is quite far from downtown Ulsan, and about a 40 minute taxi ride from Ulsan station. There is no easy public transportation from Ulsan or the station to Dong-gu. From what I could tell, and from what my son tells me, you either need a car, or need to be willing to take taxis to go very far away from Dong-gu to any attractions or tourist destinations. We were very please with our experience at the Hotel Hyundai and will definitely stay there on our next visit.

It was family friendly. The pool was little small but comfortable. Staff is very nice and welcoming. The hotel was renovated and very clean. Breakfast is delicious. Hotel was very clean overall. The location is ok but not much to do near by. Safari Theme was

“Very good hotel”

Biggest problem I think is the union is always protesting outside the shipyard which is just outside the hotel. Every single morning (early) and every evening, loud music and propaganda thorough loud speakers . Even at 10floor with closed windows you cannot avoid it.

It is well known to people of shipping business and it is preferred by several companies with projects in the shipyard of Hyundai (opposite the Hotel). This is both advantage and disadvantage. The former is clear due to the significant number of customers. (+) Cleanliness for the greatest part, Renovated Interior, Service and Behaviour of its personnel, Existence within the Hotel of Patisserie, Gym, Swimming Pool, Hair Dresser’s shop, nice Lounge caffe at the reception, Free External Parking for the Customers, the provided toiletry (e.g. soap, shampoo etc) are from the world famous Fragonard (France) imported through Italy, nice and tasty bouffe Breakfast with various international dishes (Caprese salad, smoked salmon etc) and Korean dishes. (-) Swim.Pool Area might require some renovation and expansion while the pool itself during the wintertime might need some more heating. In order to use the pool you must rent a head cap (3000KW). Smoking area (consists of 1 ashtray and 1 sign) is far away from entrance, next to parking area, very exposed to weather and in winter (e.g. -8C/feel -17C) it is very frustrating for a cigarette to be there. Several customers are taking breakfast and walk around the reception with boiler suits and even helmets as if they were on a ship.
