After beautiful cities in Spain and specially Andalusie we choose for this location to relax and to enjoy the silence which is great. The nice Cynthia runs on a beautiful location the Cortijo uphill Pitres ( 1300 mtr). Last 2 km unpaved road ; what you see then is all beauty. Nice appartements with garden view or ( and If possible do it!!!) take the penthouse like we did. It's Perfect location with view over the mountains and beautiful sunrise view. The appartment has a nice livingroom with good bed , nice kitchen with magnetron/combi and all neceserry things. Bathroom with bath. There is a swimmmingpool which has water from the mountains so a bit cold but beautiful. Also for hikers fabulous place to stay because appartements are next to the GR 7 Path. We did several walks with information and map we got from Cynthia. Don't forget: we also did the beautiful walk Taha de Pitres. It's like a fairytale, walking through 7 villages connecties to each other by paths. Paths are/were used for transport by mules. After a lovely stay cynthia gave us a bag with walnuts from the tree in the garden. Thank you Cynthia for this great stay, we loved it!!!

“Awesome place”

We went for three nights and had a wonderful stay. Ludde is a good host. leaves his guest alone but available for questions when necessary. The only suggestion we have is to add a sign for reception or indicate where to go to get the keys. We searched the place and ended up disturbing one of the ot… more

We went for three nights and had a wonderful stay. Ludde is a good host. leaves his guest alone but available for questions when necessary. The only suggestion we have is to add a sign for reception or indicate where to go to get the keys. We searched the place and ended up disturbing one of the other guests to find the place to pick up the keys. The hiking in the area was perfect for us, not so experienced hikings with kids. Lots of trails. We would certainly come back if we are near Alpujarras again

“Rural tranquility with easy access to hiking”

As one drives the road/lane up the mountain to Prado Toro one begins to question where and why someone would actually build up here. But upon arriving one finds this beautiful quiet spot, isolated in the hills with views south across the mountains. The only problem is it is hard to look beyond the property given the attractive stone building and the gorgeous manicured grounds with endless colourful flowers. Ludet, who purchased the land and built the Cortijo, is a wealth of information about the area, what to do, where to hike, where to eat etc. Our apartment El Patio was very comfortable with a large living room, fireplace and a very functional kitchen. The beautiful hand-made (personally by Ludet) furniture suits the rooms perfectly. WiFi was inconsistent in our room but Ludet directed us to another alcove closer to the router where there was reliable reception. As meals are not served here one has to either make them or take a drive to one of the nearby villages. Ludet’s suggestions, first Tiede in Bubion and then Meson La Fragua in the ham curing capital of Spain, Trevelez were both appreciated – serving very good Spanish meals. Having purchased supplies we enjoyed nice breakfasts on our private patio just outside our room. There is a large pool on the property that no doubt is welcome in the heat of the summer but not during our visit in May. The property is literally adjacent to the GR-7 hiking trail as it passes through this area of Andalucia for those who wish to hike through the picturesque countryside. Beyond hiking there is not much to do here – but that is the beauty of Cortijo Prado Toro – for those who want to get out in the fresh air, enjoy a quiet property that is soothing on the eye for good value this is your place.

“Tranquil peaceful retreat”

The rooms are very simple and have private terraces. The pool is in a stunning setting and large enough for a refreshing swim and quite deep so you can swim properly. It's one of the few places which is truely peaceful and quite delightful! Great access to lots of walks or for running. The local villages are close and truely unspoilt.
