I was here with a group of rambler pals and we all loved the hotel. The staff are superb, the food excellent. There is a real homely feel to it, not like some of the big hotels which seem soulless. The grounds are gorgeous, lots of lovely places to sit and enjoy a drink, your breakfast or the company of friends. The pool is immaculately clean too. Not sure there is much for children here, the play area is minimal. The location is also excellent…a few minutes walk to the spa, shops and cafes.

We absolutely love The Alcadima Hotel. We stayed once before and when in the area always pop in for lunch or dinner. It's family run with wonderful staff. The grounds are gorgeous. I can't believe more people don't come in for a look around and to eat in the fantastic restaurant. The food is delicious. It's absolute bliss. The pool is amazing and meticulously clean. The staff are all so polite, friendly and kind. Can't do enough for you. We highly recommend breakfast. For 11 Euros it's so good and with a lots of choice. We had a look at two other hotels (up the street) for breakfast and they couldn't beat the Alcadima Hotel. Our room had a beautiful view of the mountains. We did have a little bit of trouble with the air con - it wasn't as cold as we hoped. We managed though and the staff did their best for us. It's not an ultra modern hotel. It's delightful and in keeping. Highly recommend the trip up to Trevélez and then on the way down take in other white villages i.e. Capileira, Pampaneira. Pampaniera is about 35 mins drive so an easy trip out for dinner if you fancy it. We always come back to Alcadima for it's fantastic hospitality. A highly recommended hotel. Do try the restaurant. You won't be disappointed. We love visiting Lanjaron - it's a lovely town with lovely restaurants and bars. Thank you to everyone at Alcadima.

A lovely, charming hotel situated in the centre of a spa town nestled in the Alpujarras mountain range and near Mulhacen, the highest mountain in Southern Spain where the local electricity is supplied by hydro power and crystal snow capped peaks are visible all year round even in Summer. The hotel is rustic yet extremely well looked after & is a lovely place to explore Andalusian region including Cordoba, Granada and Seville by train or coach. With good bus and coach services to local cities and towns and plenty of walking trails/routes nearby, the hotel and relaxing spa town have some lovely local places to enjoy including tapas bars. Comfortable spacious rooms, good breakfast and some with balconies facing towards Lanjaron Castle. There are beautiful views of hillside olive fields where wine and local oil are still produced by hand and traditional methods. The hotel staff are helpful, cheerful and knowledgeable. Bubbly water fountains, sun grown lemon trees and shaded courtyards overlooked by growing bright red geraniums make the hotel relaxing to stroll around and enjoy. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday with Ramble Worldwide and would like to see more of the region in the future and return again. A thoroughly memorable holiday in beautiful Southern Spain. Recommended, a charming hotel with delightfully pleasant gardens and a warm and sunny restaurant terrace overlooking the spa town of Lanjaron.

A mixed bag. Nicely decorated, very clean. Lanjarón is a spa town. Apparently people visit it to take the waters - there are some taps gushing water around town. Staff friendly and helpful - although one or two of the receptionists are a bit gruff. The swimming pool was beautifully clean and well-maintained: somebody spent an hour or so every morning cleaning and polishing it; and presumably checking the disinfectant system and filters. There is good, free WiFi in much of the hotel - much better in the first room I was in. I had to move (see below); and the WiFi in the room they moved me into was very slow. The hotel is a bit of a maze. Reception is on the top floor - floor three. There are two staircases, one which goes from reception to floors 0 and 1; another which appears to stop at level 2 (there is a way through to the other staircase, but it's not obvious!). The bar/restaurant and swimming pool are on the ground floor (level 0). There was a space with a sign saying "spa"; but it appeared to be closed. The air conditioning only works between - sometime in the afternoon until about midnight (I forget the details); and it gets quite hot. There is a noisy celining fan. When I arrived, I was surprised at the puddle on the bathroom floor. I had a shower. The water pressure was extremely high - I had to turn the shower almost off before it was tolerable (fine, high powered water jets were uncomfortable). And when I finished, despite thinking I was being careful (it was a bath with a hinged shower panel) the bathroom floor was soaked afterwards. Long story short… there were two problems - the rubber at the bottom of the shower panel needed replacing. They had assumed that the wet floor was because of this. But there was actually also a leak. I thought it might be from the toilet cistern; but it was even worse - a pipe behind the wall was leaking; the water was tracking down behind the tiles and onto the floor. It needed to be fixed by taking off the tiles accessing the pipe, and etc. So I was moved to another room. No help was offered in moving my stuff. The car park is below the hotel - there is a steep and rather slippery concrete path down to the car park. Access is via a gate, which you can open by pressing a doorbell which rings in reception - but this closes at 10pm, so you have to walk up a steep alley and go back around to reception via the main street if you go out and return by car after 10pm. This was exacerbated, when I did this, by the key cards working very poorly. They are magnetic strip cards, and seem to fail daily. When I got back at 22:20 I had to walk all the way around to get to reception, go all the way down to my room on level 0, and then return to reception on level 3. The gruff receptionist said "it's because of mobile phones". Well, I kept my mobile phone in my shirt pocket, and the key card in the pocket of my cargo shorts, so I don't think so. They really need to upgrade to more robust RFID chip cards - and to add the back gate to the system, so you can use your key card to get I and out without there having to be somebody 3 floors away I reception. (On another occasion, before 10pm, we couldn't get out to go to the car park because the receptionist had gone to get her sandwiches. Fair enough; but the system shouldn't need to rely on their being a person in reception.) The food in the restaurant was good, although the menu was limited. We were offered vegetarian options that weren't on the menu when we asked. The wait staff were friendly and helpful; but busy. I had to wait a long time each time I went - not their fault, just inadequate staffing. There were other minor niggles. The fridge in the second room I was in had to be held in place when opening the door or, when you pulled on the door handle, the whole fridge would move forward with the door shut. I have mixed views on the systems where the electricity turns off when you take your key card out of the thing by the door - good for electric conservation; not so good if you intended to charge your device while out. Will I stay there again? Probably - although I hope they'll sort out the key cards before I do! My granddaughter's mother lives in the hills, at 800m, near Lanjarón, so it's likely I'll be back in Lanjarón again. [I'll add some photos later - I can't access them on this device]
