My partner and I stayed at the brand-new ME Malaga in early March. As part of the ME brand, the hotel is predictably luxurious, pristine, and stylish. It is arguably one of the best-designed city properties I’ve stayed in, though there are some "new hotel" teething issues to note. The Room (Suite on High Floor) The room was the highlight of our stay. We had a suite overlooking the Alcazaba; despite some local construction nearby, the room was ultra-quiet, blocking out about 95% of street-level noise. Design: The aesthetic is beautiful, featuring striking art and Marshall speakers. The windows are glazed, ensuring total privacy from the outside. Layout: It’s very functional with a spacious luggage storage area, an open-plan bathroom with a bathtub in the room, and a huge number of mirrors throughout. Comfort: The bed was extremely spacious and comfortable. Amenities: We were provided with a bottle of cava and daily water. There is an "expanded" mini-bar, but a word of caution: there was no price list provided, so check with staff first to avoid surprises on your bill. Facilities & Service Location: Perfectly central. You are steps away from all major tourist attractions. Rooftop & Gym: The rooftop is beautiful and spacious, though it gets very busy during the day. The gym is small but excellent—every time we visited, it was virtually empty. Staff: The team is incredibly welcoming. They personally showed us all the details of our room upon arrival. However, while attentive, the staff generally seemed a bit inexperienced, which is perhaps expected with such a new opening. Areas for Improvement Meliá Gold Members: Be aware that the separate priority check-in found at other Meliá brands does not exist for the ME brand. Breakfast: While the breakfast bar is spacious and the made-to-order eggs are great, the vegetarian range is very poor. They really need to expand the cooked options for those who don’t eat meat or dairy. Room Selection: I would recommend against the courtyard rooms; they have no view and seem to suffer from a lack of natural light. Value: Even in the "shoulder season" of March, the price point felt quite high. It’s a beautiful property, but expensive for what it is. Summary This is a great choice for a luxury weekend break to explore the city’s history and culture. However, if the beach is your primary attraction, you might prefer a property directly on the coast. While the room was fantastic and the hotel is brand new, the high price point means I’m not certain I would stay again.

Have stayed here a few times recently as our son is studying in fabulous Malaga. Staff on the check in desks and the front desk as you walk in are amazing - friendly and helpful. Have stayed here a few times recently as our son is studying in fabulous Malaga. Staff on the check in desks and the front desk as you walk in are amazing - friendly and helpful. Emile (sorry if that is spelt wrong!) actually took our case to the taxi rank for us - above and beyond service! Rooms are really comfortable and a good size, comfy beds, lovely pillows! Rooms have a hair dryer, hair straighteners and a steamer - brilliant! Sink being in the bedroom rather than bathroom is a bit odd but you get used to it. Fabulous roof top bar - apart from the service up there - appalling!! I get it’s busy but one particular waiter was arrogant and rude (Jorge?!). He was friendly and lovely when my husband was there, but when it was me and my female friend, he was downright rude. Took ages to order 2 drinks, then only one came, had to ask twice more for the second drink and when it came, waiter had spilt half of it down the glass. Very rude and won’t be going back there! Overall, a lovely hotel in a great location (loads of lovely cafes/restaurants opposite) but may try somewhere else next time.
