I had booked four rooms for 9 of us. Check in was a nightmare it’s supposed to be a self check in but there is only one check in machine and it’s in a small lobby. So people are able to see over your shoulder as you put in your personal information. As there was a couple in front of us we had to wait. It’s not a self check in if somebody has to help you in put details why not just have a reception desk. As we was was a group of 9 people we was told not to check in individually but they will put us all on one check in. So after waiting 5 minutes they then said we could check in so we still had to check in individually (what was the point) car parking fees are €23 for 24 hours this wasn’t mentioned on the website or when I booked the rooms. There is an underground car park just round the corner about a two minute walk away. There is also free parking on the side street if you can find a spot. The rooms are clean and ideal for a night or two. There are no drinks machines or kettles in the rooms this wasn’t a problem as I don’t drink hot drinks. There is a supermarket on the other side of the road that’s open 7am -1am . There are vending machines in the entrance area of the hotel. One of the rooms wasn’t ready when we checked in at 3:30pm apparently you can check in from 2pm. Once the room was ready there was no toilet paper so it was back to reception to ask for some as there are no phones in the rooms. There is a lot of noise from other rooms and people walking past through out the night. I am a light sleeper. The bed was comfortable and there’s a massive tv fitted to the wall. Theres plenty of storage space but no safe in the room. We had room 113 opposite the lift. I could hear toilets flushing showers and taps running. At 6:30 am a lot of people were leaving which sounded like a train on train tracks as they walked past the room wheeling suitcases it woke me up so I decided to go and sit in the lounge area to read so my partner can carry on sleeping. Unfortunately I ended up sitting in the dark as there is no way to switch on the lights. I even tried to ask someone to put the lights on to no avail. Front desk was closed so I was left in the dark unable to read or go back to sleep. How about putting lamps in the lounge area so people don’t have to sit in the dark. If I was travelling on my own it wouldn’t have been a problem as I could have just stayed on my room. All the corridor lights are on automatic timers so switch off after a couple of minutes plunging the whole hotel into darkness. There was no shower curtain so the floor got soaked and slippery after a shower. Hand soap and shower gel was supplied as well as towels. My overall experience was not the best but if I stayed here again I would definitely bring earplugs and a head torch at least then I could read in the dark. The rooms are not bad, basic and clean.
