“Hotel atractivo pero con un problema grave de ruido”

Es un hotel-restaurante pequeño con bastante encanto, que tiene pinta de haber sido reformado hace no muchos años. La cama era cómoda; el colchón parecía viscoelástico. El wifi desapareció la primera noche pero funcionó bien una vez reestablecido. Tenía aire acondicionado y una mosquitera en el dormitorio (habitación 6). La estética del baño era atractiva y la ducha bastante amplia, pero tenía unos fallos absurdos: la puerta de la ducha abría al revés, impidiendo que llegaras a las toallas y mojando el suelo; la ducha no era ajustable, obligándote a pegarte a la pared y anulando la ventaja de tener una ducha amplia. Más: la puerta del baño no se podía cerrar desde dentro; la tapa del váter hacía un chirrido horrible; se veía luz de día por debajo de dos marcos de dos de las ventanas en el baño; el primer día se bloqueó el váter y no se podía tirar de la cadena (se solucionó al día siguiente). Tenía toda la pinta de ser una buena reforma implementada mal y rápido por un amigo del primo. Ahora lo peor de todo: el ruido insoportable de otras habitaciones por el nulo aislamiento acústico. Se oía de otras habitaciones: la ducha, la téle, chorros de pis, pasos, todo el agua que se mueve por las tuberías, especialmente cuando tiran de la cadena, además de todo el ruido del pasillo como si tuvieras la gente contigo en la habitación. En vez de poner notas sobre el volumen de la téle, deben poner un aislamiento en condiciones, especialmente en la columnas, que transmiten mucho sonido. Por la noche, si se han dormido los otros huéspedes, suele haber bastante silencio, pero a las 8:30 una mañana pudimos disfrutar de una furgoneta con megafonía que anunciaba la venta de marisco con un ruido que despertaría a los muertos, después de unos minutos de música folclórica a todo volumen. La téle era enana, pero tenía USB y HDMI; ahora, no intentes usar la función de subtítulos si no sabes leer a 20 palabras/segundo. El trato era muy amable y el desayuno bastante bueno (con menú de opciones); además se puede desayunar y cenar en un agradable patio-jardín detrás del hotel, lo cual viene muy bien en tiempos de pandemia. The bed was comfortable; the mattress seemed to be viscoelastic. The wifi vanished on the first night but worked well once it had been restored. It had A/C and a mosquito screen in the bedroom (room 6). The bathroom was attractively decorated and the shower spacious, but with some absurd defects: the shower door opened outwards, preventing you from reaching the towels and wetting the floor; the shower wasn't adjustable, so you had to stand right next to the wall, nullifying the benefit of a wide shower. Also: the bathroom door couldn't be closed from the inside; the toilet seat cover made a horrible squeaking noise; you could see daylight under two of the bathroom windows; on the first day the toilet blocked and it couldn't be flushed (it was fixed the next day). It looked like a good refurbishment badly implemented by someone's cousin's brother. And the worst thing of all: the intolerable noise from other rooms because of the total lack of acoustic insulation. You could hear the following clearly from other rooms: the shower, the TV, streams of pee, steps, all the water moving through the pipes, especially when the toilet was flushed, as well as all the noise from the passageway as if the other guests were in the room with you. Instead of putting up notices about moderating the TV volume, they should install some decent insulation, especially in the columns, which transmit lots of sound. At night there is usually silence, provided the other guests have gone to sleep, but at 8:30 one morning there was an additional delight: a seafood van which played irritating folk music at ear-splitting volume before loudly announcing its wares. The TV was tiny but had USB and HDMI; however, don't try to use the subtitle function unless you can read at 20 words/second. The owner was very friendly and the breakfast pretty good (with a menu of options); better still, you can have breakfast and dinner in a pleasant patio/garden at the back, which is useful in the current pandemic.
