What an epic find for my impromptu trip to Asturias. It is an excellent location in the beautiful Old Town and a short walk to well everywhere in the city. My room was perfect for my needs. The bathroom is massive, with a HUGE shower, great power and ease of temperature regulation. I loved that I could adjust the shower height and take off the head which is so handy coz I'm only 5' 4". Located on the top (4th) floor I had a perfect view of the cathedral. As an early riser another plus was a beautiful view of sunrise every morning as it's situated perfectly due East. The noise level from the street below did not bother me, especially considering the weather was hitting mid 30s so the Aircon was on and the window closed. But nice to have the option of turning off the Aircon and opening the window to hear the hum of the city in the early morning also. Speaking of Aircon, the key card doesn't manage the Aircon unit just the lights and sockets, so it was great in the mid 30s summer heat to have that option to leave Aircon running when I was out and about exploring the city. At no time was a further than 10-20 minutes away so I could come back and sit in the coolness of the room to break from the heat. The staff were friendly and I literally only went to the reception area to check in and check out because of the design of the building access to the stairs and lifts were directly at the front door. I'm good with stairs so for the most part used them. The lift very handy when carrying luggage or carting water supplies back to the room. On the forth floor beside my room (401) there was a communal recreation room with games tables (chess boards), a lovely couple of seats at the windows and a room I could sit and eat my takeaway food in peace. There was a bookcase with a 'leave a book, take a book' service. The value for money is excellent, I got a great 'book now, pay later ' price on their website. Coming from Ireland where one night in a city centre boutique hotel might cost the same as I paid for three in Soho. I didn't bother opting for breakfast, as the location gives a wide arrary of options right on the door step. It is for sure a 'base yourself in the city ' type of hotel and has a great energy, it's a historic 17/18th Century building oozing of Old Town feels, the hotel is modern but the history of the building is there too. I have no hesitation recommending Soho Boutique Hotel, everything about it was excellent.
