The bar food was varied and tasty. Breakfast likewise. The room was basic with twin beds. Very good shower But no A/C Over all a nice local hotel. Thank you.

“tired, but did a job”

an overnight stop for 5 of us with a dog. we had 2 rooms. both were tired and basic , not the cleanest ever. one of the smallest tv remotes ever seen which made us laugh. downstairs was better, bar and patio area was nice enough, and a good bar opposite with a park for kids, though of an evening it… more

an overnight stop for 5 of us with a dog. we had 2 rooms. both were tired and basic , not the cleanest ever. one of the smallest tv remotes ever seen which made us laugh. downstairs was better, bar and patio area was nice enough, and a good bar opposite with a park for kids, though of an evening it didnt feel the safest area ever so stayed near the hotel. struggled to sleep as was very very hot so opened windows and the train line is next door so was very loud throughout

The small town of Amorebietta, in the heart of Spain's Basque region, offers only two hotels (plus a third, the "Euba" about a mile out of town). The Harrison is located in the center of town and has private, off street parking at the hotel. The staff is friendly and accomodating but most speak little or no English. It took several attempts to reach the hotel via phone and email to make our reservation, but after making contact they were very prompt about confirming. The hotel has 12 rooms, on the second and third floors; there is no elevator. Rooms are clean but basic with a small TV (a few cable stations, including CNN), a mini-fridge (unstocked), a phone and tub/shower combo's. Our room had a small desk and adequate lighting but no frills. The hair dryer was not working, as was one of the windows in our room, and our phone indicating some deferred maintenance. The Euba Hotel (five minutes outside town, by car) is newer but not as convenient and although comfortable, felt less "friendly" to us (we've stayed at both). The Harrison has a bar/cafe on the first floor and a pricey dining room that seems to be used mostly for private events. Outdoor cafe seating in the entry patio was always in use in nice weather. Room amenities are basic and the rooms always smell of cigarette smoke from the bar below. Overall, it was fine for our 8 day stay but certainly not luxurious, and several nights we were the only ones in residence. There is no staff on the premises after the bar closes. There are few other choices in this small town and the other hotel in town (Konobio) ignored our repeated requests for a reservation.
