Stayed for one night, the room was big and quite luxurious especially the bathroom. Arrived quite late and decided to use the restaurant at the hotel. Actually cafeteria is a more fulfilling description for this place. Disappointing food, would definitely not recommend this to anybody. So stay at the hotel and eat out.

A rather funny hotel. It is the tallest and newest building in town. It has rooms the size one expect in the USA. The bathrooms are bigger and fancier than anything I can remember in a long long time. However, there is a serious problem with the management. First, to register you will need to speak to the barkeep who has little English. That should not be a problem. He took a long time in deciding which room to give me and then provided me with a room on the 6th floor (8th floor by US counting). On getting off the elevator I notice that it was really warm, hot in fact. Opening my room was like opening an oven. It quickly determined that the radiator in the bathroom was fully turned on. So I head back down to the bar to ask about heat (this is the third week in June, the temperature outside is in the 90's) . The bar keep told me it would cool off in an hour. I told him that it would not with the radiator on full. He told me that was to dry the towels. I told him that I wanted him to look at the room. The help in the bar told him to go look at the room. When he got there he first looked at the air conditioning and turned it down form 20 to 19 C. (from 68 F to 66 F) and then looked into the bathroom, stepped back as the blast of hot air hit him in the face. He then said (in Spanish, Oh I see) and turned the heat off. I figured ok we will see. I went out for a walk around town and came back an hour latter. The room was still hotter than the hallway which was hotter than the outside. I insisted on another room. Instead the barkeep looked at the computer adjusted something and told me it would be better in a little bit. After a little the room was still too hot, I again insisted on another room. They moved me to the 2nd floor (4th by US count). Here I discovered that there was no internet. I complained again. By this time the boss of the whole hotel was there and he told me that there was wifi everywhere and I told him that he should come with me and i would show him that there was no wifi on the second floor. He told me that if I did not like his hotel I should stay else where. At this point one of his staff signaled me to come over to her, and she told me to leave him alone and that she would solve my problems. And she did, she put me into another room on the sixth floor, and then immediately adjusted the heat which they control form the front desk, the controls in the rooms do not work, they are fake. She showed me that the temperature was set to 28 C (in the mid 80's F) and adjusted it down to 21 C (70 F). I grinned at that and thanked her. I when to get a bite to eat in the bar, she waited on me and made sure that I was happy. When I got back to my room it was a delightful temperature. After that I only dealt with her or her colleague. They both took great care of me. I decide that with my new found champions that I would stay an extra night. Why anyone would build such a hotel in such a small town is beyond me. And considering the business ability that the management showed, it is amazing that it has not gone broke. One can only assume that there are deep, deep pockets behind this hotel. Book at your own risk!

The title of my review says it all. When you are in a city where there is absolutely nothing then you cannot expect that you can have a lot of variety to choose where to stay. I was in Olvega for a business trip and was recommended this hotel by my host. Let us start with the positive points. The hotel is nice, clean, the rooms are spacious and comfortable. As I said considering that Olvega is in the middle of nowehere this is a mega plus. Not all the stuff speaks good English and I had the impression that they are a bit understaffed. Do not be surprised if the receptionist is the lady taking care of the cafeteria and the reception is left unmanned. This is again not a big deal in my opinion. The food at the hotel however leaves much to be desired. Staying in Olvega I was forced to eat in the cafeteria. The place boasts a 12 euro set menu and you might tell me that for 12 Euro you do not expect Michelin service. However the food was in the majority of the cases not edible. I used to eat a couple of bites not to starve and return the plate. Food is always pre-cooked and pre-heated and not worth even more commenting about. Just follow my advice and take a packed lunch. Pity that the rooms of the hotel do not have a kettle cos I would boil water and live on instant noodles which would have tasted better. Yet as I said beggars cant be choosers. If the place improves on the restaurant then I would seriously think of putting in another star.

There is a car parking but 100m away - not a big issue unless the snow is falling. The room was a bit cold at the beginning, but it warmed up while having tapas and a drink downstairs. Decent breakfast although no fresh water immediately available. A quiet place in a quiet town, modern enough for a business trip. I missed the view of the Montcayo because of the weather, maybe next time.
